\ l KEY CASE Filed sept. 19, 1945 55 E i y bln/euml x Mw ze' z2' Patented Dec: 30, 1947 KEY CASE Floyd MacPherson, Des Plaines, Ill., assigner of forty-nine per cent to Margaret E. MacPherson and fifty per cent to Carl G. Gunderson, Des
Plaines, Ill.
Application September 19, 1945, Serial No. 617,352
My present invention relates to a key case and has for an object to provide a case in which keys may be held xed therein.
Another object of this invention is to provide a keycase so arranged that the keys therein may be readily released for gravity removal from the case.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following descripiton and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved key case, a wall being partly broken away to disclose parts in the case,
Figure 2 is an edge view of the case,
Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional view taken on line 3--3 of Figure 2, and
.Figure 4 is another enlarged detail sectional view.
In the accompanying drawings as above enumerated and in the following specication, like character references indicate like parts throughout and in which Il), indicates my key case which is an improvement over my Patent 2,306,970, and which consists of a plurality of walls II, I2 and I3 (or there may be more) preferably of oval shape and which provide a plurality of key retaining compartments I5 and I6. These walls are held suitably spaced apart by a side wall I'I, extending partially there-around. At near the end I9, of the case 23, is a removable pintle 2I, projecting through all of the walls and being secured by end flanges 22 and 23, the former being the terminal of a male screw and the latter the terminal of a female screw into which the former is threaded.
Mounted upon the walls I2 and I3, are bearing members 2d and 25, secured by nuts 26 and 2l, to said walls and each having the opposite ends turned up at right angles to form bearings 28 and 29, for the pintles 3B and 3|, upon which levers 32 and 33, are fulcrumed. Springs 34 and 35, are coiled upon the pintle 35 and 3l, and have one of their ends 3B and 37, secured against the bearings 28 and 23', and their other ends 38 and 3&2, bearing upon the ends it and 4l, of said levers 32 and 33, whereby they are held firmly down over the free ends of the keys 42 and d3, whereby said keys are retained in the case.
Operating through an aperture 44, in the wall il, and through aligning apertures 45, :it and il, through the respective terminals 48 and 49, of the ends 5i and 52, of said levers 32 and 33, and the plate I2, respectively is a push rod the button head 54, of which is held normally projected out- 3 Claims. (Cl. Y0-456) wardly of the plate I I, by the action of the springs 34 and 35, on the said levers 32 and 33. Projecting transversely through the rod 53, in each of the compartments I4 and I5, are pins 55 and 56, which are so located that when the rod is pressed in the pin 55, will bear upon and press down lever end 52, to release key 43, the terminal 5l, of the rod passing freely through aperture 41, in lever end 5 I, however upon pushing the rod still further in the pin 56, will then press lever end 5I, down releasing key 42. It is obvious that the location of the pins and 53, may be reversed so as to release key 42, first and then key 43, if desired. It is also obvious that I may use a separate actuating rod for each lever as indicated in Figure 1, at 58, if I should so desire. f
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described my invention that which I claim as new and desire to procure by Letters Pat-ent is:
1. The described device comprising a plurality of spaced walls, a removable pin adjacent one end thereof upon which keys may be pivotally secured, said walls forming spaced compartments for retaining a plurality of keys, means for securing the keys within the compartments, said means consisting of pivoted levers, springs for controlling the levers, means for actuating the levers against the action of the springs, said last means consisting of a push rod engageable with a plurality of the levers, and pins extending through said rod forming the engaging means between said rod and levers.
2. The described device comprising a plurality of spaced walls, a removable pin adjacent one end thereof upon which keys may be pivotally secured, said walls forming spaced compartments for retaining a plurality of keys, means for securing the keys within the compartments, said means consisting of pivoted levers, springs for controlling the levers, means for actuating the levers against the action of the springs, and said last means consisting of a push rod engageable with a plurality of the levers.
