" Claims, (01. 312-62).
invention. relates broadly. to stationery; and. more. particularly to a deskappliance for dispensing memoranda paper.
One of the objects of. my. invention is to. provide. a construction, of memoranda paperdispenser for adesk ap liance lciywhich memoranda. sheets.- may be readily. presentei and. conveniently. withdrawn for. thefentry of memoranda;
Another object of. my invention. is to-, provide a Inemoranda paper dispenser. which may be readily associated with a desk appliance, such as a calendar, for. conveniently presenting. memo.-. randa, paper. sheets for the. entry-of. memoranda from time totime. and. towhich resilient means are. connected for, directing. the memoranda: sheets at such an: anglethat. Withdrawing of, the sheets is facilitated,
Still another object of my inventionis to-.pro-. vide an attachment for. desk calendar stands for presenting memoranda paper sheets immediately. adjacent the. calendar for. facilitating, the entry of memoranda.
Other, and further. objects, of: my invention r.e-. sid s ii a. simplified: assembly of. paper delivery. device for desk calendars, as. set forthmorefully, in the. specificationhereinafter followingby reference to the accompanying drawin s. in which:
Figure 1. is a side elevational view of at desk: calendar-stand showing. the memoranda paper delivery, device of my invention associated therewith; Fig 2 is. a topplan view ofjthe calendar stand and memoranda paper. delivery device as ow F s- Fi 3 isg a nla ged nsitudF na'l' sectional view taken on line 3"3.o f F,'ig i Zianfi! ill'ustrates the associati'on'of the Inemoranjda-paper delivery device of invention Withthe; calendar; Fig. t is a fragmentary transverse sectional view taken substantially on linej4l l of Fig.3 and illustrates the arrangement of memo-1 randa paper delivery device "of my inventionin plan View; Fig, 5 is averticalsectional'viewtaken;
of my n nti r kina' "m oranda mtime oti ei Ain soni ta; eski on a l has occasion to require the use ofsmall pieces of paper for-notes or for scratch work. The dispenserrneansyof. myw'inventionassociated with a desk calendar insures acontinuous supply of such memoranda paper in; a location where it is:
always serviceable.
Referring. to the drawings in more detail; reference character lrepresents a. deskcalendar stand having inwardly directed longitudinally extending; flange portions la and lb, and a supporting top portion lc; The; longitudinally exs. tending;inwardlydirected flanges la and lb terminate inend portions le; The remaining-structure oil is formed ona; diagonal I f at its open extremity. constituting a dispensingend structureasshown; The supporting-top portion [0. constitutes: a surface for supporting themultiplicity of calendar sheets 2 Which are maintainedin position by the transversely extending follower plate3; and the clamping screws ,4;
The endp'of the frame constituted by the calendar support is open throughout the area of the compartment or pocket 5 which is defined bythe wallstructureconstituted by members 6- and: 1. formed in plates which extend substantially at an obtuse angle with respect to each other. Within the pocket thus formed-in theend of the calendan stand, I arrangean angularly shiftable shelf 9,-shown more-particularly in Fig. .7. Theangularly. shiftable shelf- 9ris provided with lugs, or tabs l0 and II extending in the plane thereofand an angularly disposed rear Wall portion l2 extending; between the lugs. The rear wall portion lzisdisposed at. anacute angle with respect to the plane of the shelf 9. The angularly disposed portio l 2' thus serves as a backstop for the memoranda paper sheets which are stacked on the shelf 9 for spreading the stacked sheets substantially in echelon for enabling the sheetsto" be conveniently taken oneata time through the openend=of-the calendar stand at 5.
The rear-wall I2 is apertured" at 14 and [5- in substantial alignment withapertures 16 and I! in the -rear wall 6 of the compartment or pocket 5 for'thepassage-of coil springs l8 and i9. Coil springs- It and 1 9- are attached at their ends law and l9a-through the apertures l4 and I5 of'the rear wall-- ll of the angularly shiftable shelf 9 and are attached at their ends I812 and I9!) to the longitudinally 'extendingflange portions la and lb of-thecalendar stand I. The coil springs l8 and lfl tend to continuously urge the angularly mov-- able shelffil in an upward'direction toward the edge id'of' the calendar stand: I andaway from the ends" leof the' longitudinally" extending flanges [a and lb and the opposite edge 8 of the pocket or compartment 5. The tabs or lugs l and H on shelf 9 extend to the junction of the plate members 6 and 1 designated at 20. Contact between the lugs Hi and II and the junction 20 of the plate members 6 and I is yieldably maintained by the operation of coil springs l8 and I9, permitting shelf 9 to angularly shift about junction 20 as a fulcrum between the limits of the edge id of the calendar stand, and the edge 8 of the compartment or pocket 5. The calendar stand is mounted on rubber feet which I have represented at 22.
The rubber feet 22 extend through the calendar stand and are provided with .1
button-like retaining heads 22a. Adjacent the end of the compartment or pocket 5, these re-' taining button-like heads 22a project upwardly a might otherwise result by the striking of the undersurface of angularly shiftable shelf 9 against the upper surface of the plate member I.
The shelf 9 provides a support for a stack of loose paper sheets 2| which project from the end of the calendar stand, as shown in Figs. 1-4. The acute angle of the backstop |2 with respect to shelf 9 serves to spread the paper sheets 2| in echelon arrangement while the sheets are clamped against the edge Id of the calendar stand.
In withdrawing the paper memoranda sheets from time to time slight pressure is exerted against the stack of paper sheets 2| on angularly shiftable shelf 9, which tends to rock angularly shiftable shelf 9 about the junction 20 as a center, thereby removing the stack of paper sheets 2| from clamping engagement against edge lb and allowing withdrawal of a selected memorandum sheet from the top of the stack of memoranda sheets 2|. Upon withdrawal of such top sheet the slight pressure against the stack of sheets 2| is removed, allowing shelf 9 to be immediately restored to a position in which the next succeeding sheet on the stack 2| is clamped by the edge id of the calendar stand.
After the stack of memoranda sheets 2| is consumed, the stack of memoranda sheets may be readily renewed by introducing a fresh supply of paper sheets from time to time.
I have found the structure of my invention very practical in manufacture and convenient in use, but I realize that modification instructure may be made, and I desire that it be understood that I intend no limitations upon my invention other 7 compartment formed in the open end of said frame structure, said compartment includinga pair of plate members extending at an angle to each other with a junction therebetween, an angularly shiftable shelf member having a pair of lugs extending therefrom into pivotal engagement with the junction of said plate members and angularly rockable through the open end of said compartment, means on said angularly shiftable shelf member for retaining a stack of flat sheets in superimposed relation, and spring means interconnecting said. last mentioned means and.
said frame structure for urging said angularly shiftable shelf member to a position successively clamping the stack of flat sheets against a wall of said compartment. 7
