3 Claims.
This invention pertains to novel lighting means for electric lamps with a globe formed oftwo sections, or from a plurality of sections, or transparent or translucent material, glass, or plastic, which must be made first and then secured together by some well known practice to provide an air-tight joint, whereby globes of two or more colors and materials can be made to provide economical means of making color combinations of an attractive, brilliant and ornamental effect with one single molded globe, thereby producing a hollow unit of sections secured together.
The subject matter of this application has been carved out of applicants case, Serial No. 380,363, filed February 24, 1941, and abandoned July 28, 1942.
A further object of this invention is to provide the possibility of making color combinations with the same lighting means, since certain designs can be molded on the inner or the outer faces of the globe sections for diffusing light rays.
Another object of the invention is to produce means of working out color schemes for advertising and decorating purposes where the background would be of one color and the face of another color, also the possibility of having white light through the rear end and of having colored light through the forward direction, and of having colored light in the rear and white light in the front. Also, when lighted and burned in a vertical position of having one color on one side and another color on the other side.
Another object is to provide an incandescent lamp in which a portion of the globe is made to reflect light which may be used as a safety factor, when failure of the lighting means to light said portion would reflect any approaching light, and thereby warn of danger.
Further, another factor of having the light designs on the rear or top portion could be made to reflect or increase the brilliancy of the light output of the device at the top portion, and to either diffuse or control the light, certain designs could be placed in that portion, since the main purpose of this unit is to provide a lighting, deco-- rative or advertising device so as to create a plurality of colors which are embodied in the globe sections, and also to add a safety feature to a portion thereof to reflect, as heretofore referred to.
The foregoing and other objects may be attained by constructing the improved lighting fixture in the manner illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

showing a molded glass globe base member fixed! 1y secured within the metallic base member, a molded glass globe upper member fixedly secured to the flattened extended top portion ofthe globe member base, and provided with meansforming a part of said upper member for reflecting light thrown upon it to serve as a safety factor.
The invention is illustrated in one form in the accompanying drawing in which is shown an incandescent lamp mounted within a metallic screw threaded sleeve or base member I and within said member is fixedly secured the lower or base section of a molded glass or plastic globe member 2, and also fixedly secured within the base receptacle H of the base member is the lamp 6, within,
which is disposed the light filament (not shown), said globe base member 2 being provided with an outer ornamentation or design 3 formed in its outer face, and terminating at its upper end portion with an outwardly extended flattened face for the reception of the upper globe section 4 of the molded glass, which is fixedly and removably sealed at II] to the said flattened upper end of member 2, the section 4 being ornamented on its inner surface and its body portion with a design, formed of a series of flutes 5 terminating near its upper dome-shaped portion with a series of downwardly extending hemispherical formations 8 and a larger central formation 9 extending downwardly, while its body portion, at the lower end thereof, is sealed and properly secured upon the upper flattened face Ill the upper terminal portion of the lower globe section 2. It will be seen that the body portion of the upper section 4 of the globe is of circular formation and is provided with a portion 1, which may be placed at any desired location on the completed globe and may be of any desired shape, since "said portion 1 is designed to reflect light which may be thrown upon it and serve as a safety factor when failure of the lighting means to light said portion would reflect any oncoming light, and warn of danger.
It will be understood that this invention involves an incandescent lighting device, where the colors are part of the material used, and also where the base portion forms an integral and permanent part and the molded plastics or glass are united to form a hollow unit of globular shape which may be of different colors, and the base portion of the globe forms a permanent part of the lighting device to be used with incandescent means for illumination.
I claim:
1. A lighting device of the character described, comprising a molded transparent base member having an external screw threaded metal sleeve, incandescent illuminating means secured within said member, an upper globe section of molded transparent material, said base member and upper globe member being of different colors, said members being joined at their meeting edges to form a hollow unit,.,one of saidlmembers having a section =withifargportionzto reflect lighfias 'a'safety' factor.
2. A lighting device of the character described,
