Description
THOMAS MCBEAN, OF FOWLERVILLE, NEW YORK.
EGG-BEATER.
Specification of Letters Patent N o. 24,134, dated May 24, 1859. Y
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS MCBEAN, of F owlerville, in the county of Livingston and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Egg-Beater; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure l, represents a perspective view of the egg-beater, arranged ready for operation. Fig. 2, is a perspective view of the peculiar-shaped dasher. Fig. 3, is a side view of the said dasher.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
The nature of my invention consists in arranging a double spiral-shaped beater or dasher with its surface formed into steps within a square box and in communicating to this dasher a swift rotary motion so as to revolve it horizontally within said box, as hereinafter fully described.
A, A, represents spiral circular plates soldered to a small tube or circular B. These plates are also bent so as to forni steps C, O, which are radial from the axis of motion of a vertical shaft D, which passes up in the center of a square box E, and through the cover F, of the said box, where it has attached to it a beveled pinion wheel G. The upper end this shaft D, has its bearing in a bracket H, fixed to the cover F, and the lower end rests upon a pin (not shown) projecting up from the bottom of the box E. Motion is communicated to the pinion Gr, by a beveled pinion J, 'to which is fixed a handle K. The motion thus given to the beater and the peculiar configuration of said beater, combined with the square box, so thoroughly breaks up all portions of the eggs that they may be well and very thoroughly beaten in a few seconds.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
The double spiral dasher A, in combination With a square box, when the same are arranged substantially as above specilied.
THOS. MCBEAN.
Vitnesses:
MILES B. ADAMS, J As. M. BIGELOW.
