2 Claims.
The invention relates to screens and more especially foldable dressing screens.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a screen of this character, wherein the panels thereof are foldable with relation to each other, and these are equipped with a towel rack,
mirror and pockets for accommodating toilet articles or other gadgets required for dressing purposes.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a screen of this character, wherein the height thereof can be increased or decreased, the panels being sectioned which are separable from each other and adaptable for nesting one within the other.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a screen of this character, wherein the construction thereof is such that it can be easily transported, in that it may be carried as luggage, as when it is folded is compact, and the separable sections are susceptible of being nested in a novel and unique manner.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a screen of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purposes, strong, durable, easily and quickly set up for use, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which shows the preferred form of embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the screen set up for use.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary top edge view.
Figure 3 is a plan view showing the screen in a nested folded condition.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary sectional view on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail A designates generally the lower foldable section and B the upper foldable section, respectively, of the screen constituting the present invention and hereinafter set forth. I,
The lower foldable section A comprises a pair of said panels I and II, respectively, these being of elongated or substantially rectangular shape, and an intermediate panel I2, to which the side panels I II and II are swingingly connected by hinges I3 located near the upper and lower ends thereof. Each panel I0 and II is formed with a wood frame I 4, although the same may be made from Other rigid material, and a fabric center covering I5, strip fastened thereto at IE to be taut. The coverings I5 are fitted with pockets I! for accommodating clothing or other articles, these pockets being open at their upper ends, so that access may be had thereto when the section is unfolded and at rest in an upright position.
On the section panel III is a towel rack I8 which is above the pocket I1 thereon. It is preferable to have the pockets I'I ofiset with relation to each other on the respective panels I II and I I, so asnot to interfere with the folding thereof to the position shown in Figure 3 of the drawing.
The upper section B comprises side panels [9 and 20, respectively, and an intermediate panel 2|, which are foldably connected by hinges 22. These side section panels I9 and 20 arefitted on the center covering 23 with pockets 24 and 25, the pockets 24 vary in size with respect to the pockets 25, and each is adapted to accommodate articles when placed therein. The panel I9 is fitted with a mirror 26 while the panel 20 may have attached thereto a picture or photograph of a selected kind.
The sections A and B are separably joined with each other through dowel pins 28 socketed in the meeting edges 29 and 30, respectively, when these sections are superposed as is clearly shown in Figures 1 and 4 of the drawing.
The free edges of the side panels I0 and II are equipped with buckling straps 3| for holding the same in a folded condition, while the panels I9 and 20 are provided at their free side edges with eyes 32 for receiving the straps 3| when the panels of the section B are folded and nested between the panels Ii! and II of the section A, as shown in Figure 3 of the drawing.
The panels I0, II, I9 and 20 carry abutment bars 33 and 34. respectively, so that when the sections A and B are nested one within the other on the folding of their panels the said sections will not become dislodged from nest position. The lower section A carries the upper section B on the nesting of thesame.
Thescreen is set up as shown in Figure 1 and 7 folded and nested as shown in Figure 3 of the drawing. j
What is claimed is:
1. A screen of the kind described, comprising a lower section formed of two main panels connected together by a narrow panel, an upper section similarly constructed, means separably joining the two sections when in superposed relation and in upright position, said upper section being nestable and fastenable within the folded lower section.
*2. A screen of the kind described, comprising a lower section formed of two main panels swingingly connected together by a narrow panel, means for securing the free ends of the main panels together, an upper section similarly con-
