2 Claims. 1
I. The invention relates to a device for supporting a glass or like Christmas tree decoration on a light bulb, and a particular object of the invention is to provide such a device for a decorationwhose center opening is larger than the base of the bulb with which it is desired to associate the decoration.
The invention aims to provide a device of the above kind which is inexpensive, simple in construction and easy to assemble and use.
These and other objects will appear from a reading of the specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which like numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a rear elevational view illustrating a light bulb and decoration secured in assembled relation by means of adevice embodying the present invention. I r
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view, taken on the line 2-2 of Figure l.'
Figure 3 is a front elevational viewof the construction shown in Figure 1; and
Figure 4 is a developed perspective view, illustrating the parts ready for assembly, the decoration being omitted.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral l indicates any conventional glass or like Christmas tree decoration. The present device consistsof a stiff fiat paper ring 3 which is provided in its,
inner edge with notches 4. In the drawing I have shown three such notches, evenly spaced, but any desirable number of the same'may be employed. The device also includes a stiff paper disk 5 having a central opening 6 therein and provided on its front side with marginal angular lugs or clips 1, which may be attached to the disk in any suitable manner, such as by rivets 8.
The drawing illustrates the device in use with the conventional Christmas tree light bulb I I, the opening 6 being of the proper size to snugly accommodate the threaded base ill of the bulb II.
The ring 3 is securely glued to the rear side of the decoration, centrallyof the latter, and the disk 5 is securely glued on the bulb ll adiacent the screw-threaded base l0 thereof. The
' bulb may then be inserted in the opening of ring 3' so that the clips I will pass through the notches 4. As the free ends of the clips are spaced from the disk 5, due to offsetting the same as at [2,
a slight turning movement of the bulb II and The openings I5 are for the purpose of ventilation.
It is believed to be apparent that minor changes and modifications may be made in the device, without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as claimed.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. The combination with an electric light bulb and a decoration having a central opening larger than the bulb, of means for detachably mounting the decoration upon the bulb including a stifi flat centrally apertured disc snugly fitted on and having its inner edge adhesively secured to the bulb adjacent its base, angular strip-like clips secured at their inner ends on the front face of'said disc and disposed radially of the latter, said clips having their outer ends oifset forwardly from the disc, a still fiat ring having its outer margin adhesively secured on the rear face of the decoration about its central opening, the internal diameter of said ring being smaller than the outside diameter of the disc so that the outer margin of the disc contacts the rear face of the inner margin of the ring, said ring having notches in the inner edge thereof permitting passage of the outer'ends of th clips therethrough when registered therewith, the outer ends of the clips being engageable in front of the inner marginal portions of the ring to detachably connect the disc and ring in contacting relation when they are relatively rotated while in such relation to position the clips and notches out of registry.
2. The combination with an electric light bulb and a decoration having a central opening larger than the bulb, of means for detachably mounting the decoration upon the bulb including a stiff flat centrally apertured disc snugly fitted on the bulb adjacent its base, angular strip-like clips secured at their inner ends on the front face of said disc and disposed radially of'the latter,
said clips having their outer ends offset forwardly from the disc, a stiff fiat ring having its outer margin secured on the rear face of the decoration about its central opening, the internal diameter of said ring being smaller than the outside diameter of the disc so that the outer margin of the disc contacts the rear face of the inner margin of the ring, said ring having notches in the inner edge thereof permitting passage of the outer ends of the clips therethrough when registered therewith, the outer ends of the clips being engageable in front of the inner marginal portions of the ring to detachably connect the disc and ring in contacting relation when they are relatively rotated while in such relation to position the clips and notches out of registry.
