Description

T. B. CLINE May 14, 1946.
WRIST PURSE Filed Feb. 25. 1945 IN VEN TOR. THELMA a a my:
HER ITI'OIFf/EYT Patented May 14, 1946 UNITED [STATES PATENT. FFlCE- Application February 23, 1945, Serial No. 579,363
2 Claims.
My invention relates to improvements in a wrist purse wherein a hollow flexible or pliable band having a concealed pocket opening upon the inner side thereof, operates in conjunction with means for detachably or otherwise mounting a wrist watch or the like upon the outer side of said band in order to substantially conceal the real nature of said band.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved wrist purse.
Another object is to provide a new and improved article of the character set forth having other utilitarian means visibly attached thereto to substantially conceal the real nature and utility of the same;
A further object is to provide a new and improved item of the type described having a simple and economically produced construction and a maximum emciency and utility.
I accomplish these and other objects by means of the improved device disclosed in the drawin forming a part of the present application, and in which- I Fig. 1 is a view of the outer side of my improved device, detached from the wrist and laid out full length for illustrative purposes:
Fig. 2 is a view of the inner side thereof;
18. 3 is a plan view of the device formed around a wrist, with a separate utilitarian device attached thereto; and
Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Fig. 1, in the direction indicated.
Referring to the drawing:
The numeral I is used to designate in general a hollow, ilat flexible band of suitable material having a preferably longitudinally disposed openin: 2 on the inner side thereof provided with suitable closure means, such, for instance, as a "zipper 3. to render readily accessible the interior -of a substantially concealed pocket 4 within said hollow band I.
Opposite ends of the band I are provided with corelated fastening means such as a; buckle 8 arranged to be engaged by the usual perforated tongue 1..
Upon opposite ends of the outer side of the band i areoppositely facedpocketslandtthe openings of said pockets I and I being arranged in facing and spaced relation adjacent the approximate lateral center of the band I. The pocket is provided on its open edge with a loop I! to engage one side pintle ll of a wrist watch or the like I, while the open edge of thepocket I is provided with a tongue II, with a stiif tip II, said tongue is being arranged'to be looped around the opposite side pintle 22 of said watch 14, from front to back, preferably, with said still tip 20 inserted well into the pocket 9, substantially as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawing, where the tongue I8 and stiff tip 20' thereof are in effect snubbed between the inner walls of the pocket 9 when the flexible band I is formed around and secured upon the wrist by the buckl 6 and tongue I.
It is obvious that'when the wrist purse is thus a secured. around the wrist that the substantially secret pocket 4 is concealed, and the presence of the conspicuously exposed wrist watch or other item secured thereto will tend to further disguise the real nature of the flexible band.
The provision of the stifl tip 20 upon the tongue l8 will tend to facilitate insertion of said tongue is into its pocket 9 and said tip 20 may be perforated, if desired, so that the perforations thereof may be matched with the perforated tongue 1 which secures the band upon the wrist. Thus secured, loss of the wrist watch it, or other ornament which may be exposed, is easily prevented.
The outer or exposed pockets 8 and 9 may also be used to retain inexpensive items of convenience, such as a street car transfer or similar essential items of comparatively no value.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A wrist purse comprising a flat, hollow, flexible band arranged to be formed around a wrist and having an opening. to the interior pocket thereof upon the inner side of said band; closure means for said opening; securing means on opposite ends of said'band for securing the same around a wrist; a pair of pockets on the outer side of said band having their openings facing each other in spaced relation approximately midway of said band: and having their edges provided with watch securing means.
2. A wrist purse comprising a flat, hollow, flexible band arranged to be formed around a wrist I pocket for engaging a pintle on one side of a wrist watch; and a tongue, provided with a stiff tip, mounted upon the open edge of the other pocket and arranged to loop around the other pintle of a wrist watch with said tongue inserted within its pocket and substantially snubbed by the inner walls thereof, when said flexible band is formed and secured around a wrist.
THELMA. B. CLINE.
