R. R. JONES ORDER CHECK DEVICE Filed March 26, 1945 RUSSELL R.JONE$' Patented Apr. 23, 1946 URDER CHECK DEVIGE Russell R. Jones, Orlando, Fla., assignor of onehalf to Earl E. Keith, Orlando, Fla.
Application March 26, 1945, Serial No. 584,931
3 Claims.
This invention is concerned with the provision of an order check device by means of which order checks may be withdrawn in the same rotation in which they are filed.
In the filling of prescriptions, restaurant orders, soda fountain orders and the like, confusion concerning which order is first i not uncommon. It is the primary object of this invention to overcome this confusion. To this end I provide an order check device which consists generallyof a pocket rotatable between oppositely inclined base surfaces in such manner that the bottom order check in said pocket will, when the pocket is rctated to the opposite base surface, be rotated to top position and therefore the next order to be filled.
This invention resides substantially in the combination, construction, arrangement and relative location of parts, all in accordance with the disclosure herein.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan view of my invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 33 of Figure 1, with order checks indicated as filed therein.
The true nature and manner of use of a device in accordance with this invention will be best understood by a detailed description of the form thereof, shown in the drawing in an illustrative sense.
The device includes a base which is preferably as shown, in the form having side and end members 2 and 3 respectively, and a top surface 4 which is inclined downward and inward from its opposite ends to a common center or hip 5. At said hip 5 on the oppositely disposed sides are ears 6 extending upward to act as support for a pivotal shaft 1 about which, for change of position between the oppositely disposed inclined surfaces of the base member, a triangular pocket 8 rotates, said pocket having an open outer face 9 for insertion or withdrawal of the order checks and flat and closed at the apex Ill and having outwardly extended ears II for pivotal engagement with said pivot shaft 1.
Also functioning with said pocket are ravity operated members [4 which are in free pivotal engagement with said pocket and which assist in maintaining placement of the order checks, acting as followers upon said checks during rotary positioning of the pocket.
In teaching the use of this device I will take for example its use in a drug store and will place it in a window opening to the prescription department. It will be assumed that the device is in position for receiving prescriptions, and some have been placed in the pocket which I indicate as A, B and C, A being at the bottom. The pharmaceutist is ready for the next prescription, he takes hold of the knob or finger extension I 5 and rotates the pocket toward him. In this position it is obvious that prescription A is now on top ready for withdrawal, then, if so desired, the pocket may be returned thru a similar procedure to its opposite position for other prescriptions to be deposited therein.
From the above description it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the details of construction illustrated herein may readily be varied without departure from the novel subject matter herein disclosed. I do not, therefore, desire to be strictly limited by the disclosure but rather by the claims granted me.
What is claimed is:
1. An order check handling device, comprising a base member, and a hopper having two plane intersecting walls and two side walls, pivoted to the base member substantially at the intersection of the plane walls, whereby the hopper may be swung on said base member from a position where one plane Wall rests on said base member to a position where the other plane wall rests thereon.
2. An order check handling device, comprising a base member, a hopper having two plane intersecting walls and two side Walls, whereby the hopper may be swung on said base member from aposition where one plane'wall rests on said base member to a position where the other plane wall rests thereon, said hopper being provided with a wide permanently open mouth at the portion of the hopper remote from its pivotal axis, whereby all articles stacked in said hopper when in one the articlesstacked durin the changing of the positions of said hopper relative to the base member.
