(01. its- 41) The present invention :is concerned with the art of curling hair and especially is directed to an improved and simplified curler, the objects, advantages, and features of which will be better understood from the following detailed description considered in the light of the accompanying drawing in which:

Fig. 1 is a side view of the hair curler according to my invention.

Fig. 2 is a horizontal and transverse sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.

Fig.- 3 is an exploded View of the hair curler shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

Illustrative of the embodiments disclosed, the hair curler H includes a perforated tube 'I, a perforated cover C, a loop L, and a compressible stay S. v

As shown cover C is provided with depending lugs 4 having perforations 5 adapted to be lined up with perforations 6 of tube T when the cover is superimposed and mounted on the tube.

, The cover and tube are swingably mounted on inwardly directed overlapped ends broadly designated I of the one piece-wire loop L having sides 8 thereof adapted to widely straddle the tube and cover and including a brace 9 rotatably supporting the relatively soft rubber disc l constituting a stay having a peripheral rim or surface provided with a closed band of spaced teeth II.

More particularly each end "I is integrally merged with curved. corner portions or ribs 12 each defining a groove or trough [4 having inclined sloping means whereby the overlapping inner terminals of the contacting ends I are offset in respect to the bases of ribs l2.

brace Q. Thereafter the arms 8 are separated sufficiently to thread terminals of ends 1 into ahned openings 5 and 6 of the cover and tube. Subsequently arms 8 are allowed to move towards each other to permit terminals 1 to approach each other.

During this operation sloping parts 15 of beads or ribs 12 pass through the alined openings 5 and 6 in the sides of the tube and cover. Consequently these parts are disposed in the concavities or notches of beads l2 as shown in Fig. 2

and from an examination of the latter it will be appreciated that beads l2 interlock both the tube and cover however permitting both of the latter to swing relative to each other with the bases of beads I2 serving as fulcrum means while the inclined sides of the beads prevent displacement of In fact terminals after beads l2 are interlocked with the cover and tube cannot be accidentally moved away from each other since the inclined parts [5 constitute stop means cooperating with the diametrically disposed portions of the tube and cover to prevent such separation. In a word, it may be stated that after ends I have been threaded into the tube and cover, the terminals if moved towards each other snap into interlocking relation with both the tube and cover to straddle adjacent walls thereof although the latter serve as bearing means permitting the loop to be rotated or swung.

As many changes could be made in the above construction and many widely different species or structural embodiments could be devised without departing from the scope thereof, it is intended that all matter hereinbefore described in the specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawing shall be interpreted as illustrativeand not in a limiting sense.

I claim:

1. In a hair curler, a tube, a cover mounted on said tube, a resilient loop comprising arms spaced from the sides of said tube and cover and including ends disposed substantially normal to said arms, beaded means integral with said ends and arms and adapted to straddle adjacent parts of said tube and cover and constituting means to prevent shifting of said tube and cover longitudinally of said ends, and a compressible resilient the tube and cover longitudinally of the ends 1. i tatably mounted on said loop and having a toothed rim adapted to disengageably interlock with one end of said tube.
