i (o1. 12o- 37) 2 Claims.
My invention relates to the eradication of ink, and has among its objects and advantages the provision of an improved fountain pen and ink eradicator.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a view of a pen embodying my invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional View of the pen portion.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the ink eradicator section.
In the embodiment of the invention selected for illustration, I make use of a barrel I6 comprising a pen barrel section I2 and an eradicator barrel section I4. A conventional fountain pen unit I6 is connected with one end of the barrel section I2 and includes the usual ink sac I8 which may be collapsed through the medium of a pivoted lever 20 arranged to bear on a collapsing spring 22. The structure so far described is old and well known in the art. The unit I6 is housed in a removable cap 24 in the usual manner.
The eradicator section I4 includes an externally threaded neck 26 for threaded connection with the internally threaded end 28 of the section I2. Inside the section I4 is arranged a collapsible sac 30 for the ink eradicating fluid. This sac is carried by a tubular body 32 having a threaded connection at 34 with the end flange 36 of the section I4.
The body 32 has an annular shoulder 38 which engages the flange 36, but the body is removable from the ange with the sac 30. A glass applicator tip 40 is secured in a bore 42 in the body 30 and concentrically of the body bore 44. small opening 46 is provided in the rounded outer end of the tip 40.
A cap 48 is threadedly connected at 50 with the section I4, and this cap includes a compression spring 52 engaging a cup 54 in which is secured an annular blotter body 56 into which the tip '40 is partly projected. A sealing gasket or plate 58 is pressed into the blotter body 56, and constitutes a closure forthe opening 46.
A spring 6l) is provided for collapsing the sac 36 which spring is associated with a pressure lever 62 corresponding to the lever 26.
In operation, the sacs I8 and 36 are independent so that either may be iilled without interfering with the other. The tip 4I) is rendered available by merely unscrewing the cap 48 to permit the ink eradicator to be applied from the tip.
Without further elaboration, the foregoing will so fully explain my invention, that others may, by applying current knowledge, readily adapt the same for use under various conditions of service.
I claim:
i. An ink eradicator reservoir and applicator Y for use with fountain pens, comprising a hollow bodywith open ends, one end adapted for attachment to a fountain pen casing and a threaded body carrying a collapsible eradicator sac engaged with the other end of the hollow body, said threaded body having a bore communicating with the sac, a hollow applicator tip with an outlet opening carried by the body and communicating with the bore, a cap on the hollow body, a cup in the cap, a blotter body in the cup, and a spring between the cup and the end of the cap to press the blotter against the opening in the applicator tip to seal the same.
2. An ink eradicator reservoir and applicator for use with fountain pens, comprising an elongated tubular body with open exteriorly threaded ends, one end adapted for attachment to a fountain pen casing forming a closure, a threaded hollow body carrying a collapsible eradicator sac, and engaged with the other end of the elongated tubular body, an elongated hollow cylindrical applicator tip with an outlet opening therein carried by the body and communicating therethrough with the sac, a cap on the tubular body, a cup in the cap, a blotter body, a gasket holding the blotter body in the cup, and a compression spring between the cup and the end of the cap to press the blotter against the opening in the applicator tip to seal the same.
