This invention relates to improvements in ourtain or drape fixtures.

The main objects of this invention are:

First, to provide a curtain or drapery fixture or the like which is capable of a wide range of adjustment to meet varying conditions metin installing the fixtures and to compensate for inaccuracies or carelessness in mounting the fixture on a support.

Second, to provide a curtain or drapery fixture which may be readily adjusted by mechanically inexperienced persons to properly position the drapery or curtain crane or rod.

Third, to provide a structure having these advantages which is compact and .at the same time very strong and one which is economical to produce.

Objects relating to details and economies of the invention will appear from the description to follow. The invention is defined and pointed out in the claims.

Preferred embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Fig. 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of a fixture embodying the features of my invention as embodied in an adjustable bracket and embodying a crane type of rod.

Fig. 2 is a fragmentary vertical view partially in section on line 2-2 justment of the rod or crane being shown by dotted lines.

Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on line 33 of Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the fixture adapted for a flat rod type curtain or drape support.

Fig. 5 is a fragmentary view partially in section corresponding to that of Fig. 2.

Fig. 6 is a perspective view partially broken away of a modified form of bracket embodying myinvention.

In the accompanying drawing, I represents a door frame or window casing on which the fixture is mounted. The embodiment of my invention shown in Fig. 1 comprises a base member 2 having attaching ears 3 adapted to receive attaching screws I.

This base member is of channel section and adjustably receives the bracket member I which is also of channel section having a longitudinal slot I in its web portion 1 receiving the clamping bolt I which permits the longitudinal extension of the bracket. This feature, however, forms no part oi my present invention.

The crane or rod I8 is provided with a laterally projecting pin 19 pivotally engaged in the pivot opening I 6 and tiltingly and pivotally engaged in the slot opening ii. The rod member commonly called .a crane and in the embodiment illustrated is made up of an inner section 20 and the outer section 2| telescoped thereon.

In the embodiment shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the

rod 22 is of the flat type having a pin 23 engaged in the openings in the bracket, the inner end of the rod being arranged between the top and bottom members of the bracket, the pin being shouldered at 24 to rest on the lower or bottom mem-- ber of the bracket whereas in the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the rod is provided with a shoulder 25 resting on the top member of the bracket.

To adjustably support the rod in 'the embodiment of Figs. 1 and 2 as 'well as in that of Figs. 4 and 5, I provide a tapered or wedge-like adjusting member 26 which is slidably supported on the bottom of the bracket in abutting relation to the back or web of the bracket and positioned to engage the pin I! of the embodiment of Figs. 1 and 2, and the pin 23 of the embodiment of Figs. 4 and 5 for adjustably and tiltingly supporting it while permitting rotative movement in the event that the rod sired to swing on its pivot.

The adjusting member 26 is accurately adjusted and retained in its adjusted positions by means of the screw 21 which is rotatably mounted in the end members of the bracket provided with a keri 28 at its front end adapted to receive a tool, this screw having threaded engagement with the adjusting member 26. This provides for very accurate adjustment and the parts are supported in their adjusted position.

In the embodiment of Fig. 4, the back member is of the type which it is de- I is provided with an opening 3! which permits the rod 22 being swung to either side of the bracket member.

In the embodiment shown in Fig. 6, the bracket member 29 is provided with attaching cars 30, otherwise it is substantially the same as the bracket member described. 1

My improved fixture may be very economically produced, is attractive in appearance, the adjusting means being effectively concealed from view. Structures embodying my invention are strong and rigid and at the same time may be economically produced.

I have not attempted to illustrate or' describe other embodiments and adaptations as it is believed that this disclosure will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my improvements as may be desired.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. In a curtain or drapery flxture, the combination of a bracket member provided'with means for attachment to a support and comprising a web portion and integral top and bottom flanges and integral end members lying between said top and bottom flanges, said top and bottom flanges having lateral ear-like'extensions at their forward ends, the top extension being provided with a pintle opening and the bottom extension with a transversely extending slot aligned with said pintle opening, a supporting arm having a down-, turned pintle rotatably engaged in the pintle;

flange extension and axially opening in said upper supported thereby and extending into said slot, a wedge block slidably supported on the bottom flange and in thrust engagement with the web portion of said bracket to engage said pintle, and an adjusting screw rotatably mounted in said end members and having threaded engagement with said wedge block, said screw being adapted at its forward end to receive an adjusting tool.

2. In a curtain or drapery fixture, the combination of a bracket adapted for attachment to a support, said bracket being of channel section having a top flange, a bottom flange, and a web portion and having inturned end members integral with the web portion thereof, the top flange of said bracket having a pivot opening therein and the other flange having a transversely extending slotaligned with said pivot opening, a supporting arm provided with a pintle pivotally engaged in said pivot opening and extending into said slot, an adjusting screw rotatably supported in said end members, and a tapered block slidably supported within said bracket to coact with said pintle for tiltingly adjusting and supporting it in its adjusted positions while permitting rotative movement thereof and having threaded engagement with said adjusting screw.

3. In a curtain or drapery fixture, the combination of a bracket member comprising a back, top, and bottom, and end members, the said top member having a pin opening therein and the bottom member having a transversely extending slot aligned with said pin opening, a rod supported by said top member and having a pin engaged in the pin opening thereof andextending into said slot of said bottom member, a tapered adjusting member slidably supp rted on the bottom member and in thrust engagement with the back memher to slidably engage said pin, and an adjusting screw rotatably mounted in said end members and having threaded engagement with said adjusting member.

4. In a curtain or drapery fixture, the combination of a bracket member comprising a. back, top, and bottom, and end members, the said top member having a pin opening therein and the bottom member having a transversely extending slot aligned with said pin opening, a rod supported by said top member and engaged in the pin opening thereof and extending into said slot of said bottom member, a tapered adjusting member slidably supported on the bottom member and .in thrust engagement with the back member to slidably engage said pin, and means for adjustably supporting said adjusting member.

5. A bracket for curtain or drapery rods or cranes having laterally projecting pins, a body member of channel section provided with means for attachmentto a support and having a top flange, a bottom flange and inturned end members, the top flange of said body member having a pin opening therein and the other flange having a transversely extending slot aligned with said pin opening, said pin opening being adapted to receive and pivotally support the pin of an arm or crane, said slot being adapted to swingably receive the pin engaged in said pin opening, an adjusting screw rotatably supported in said end members, and an adjusting member slidably supported within said body member and having a bearing surface inclined to the direction of adjustment of the adjusting member to wedgingly coact with a pin of an arm or crane for tiltingly adjusting and supporting it in its adjusted posi tions while permitting rotative movement thereof and having threaded engagement as justing screw.

6. A bracket for curtain or draper rods or cranes having laterally projecting pins, a body member of channel section provided with means for attachment to a support and having a top .40 flange, a bottom flange and inturned end mema transversely extending bers, the top flange of said body member having a pin opening therein and the other flange having slot aligned with said pin opening, said pin opening being adapted to receive the pin of an arm or crane, said slot, being adapted to swingably receive the pin engaged in said pin opening, an adjusting screw rotatably supported in said end members, and an adjusting member slidably supported within said body member and having a bearing surface inclined to the direction of adjustment of the adjusting member to wedgingly coact with a pin of an arm or crane for tiltingly adjusting and supporting it in its adjusted positions and having threaded engagement with said adjusting screw.

'7. In a curtain or drapery fixture, the combination of a bracket having two vertically spaced pin supporting members, the upper of which has an opening adapted to receive a pin and laterally support the same while permitting canting adjustment thereof, the lower having a transversely extending slot aligned with said pin opening, a curtain or drapery supporting member provided with a pin pivotally engaged in said pin opening and extending into said slot, an adjusting mem ber slidably arranged and supported on said bracket and having a bearing surface inclined to the direction of adjustment of the adjusting member to wedgingly coact with said pin for tiltingly adjusting and supporting the pin in its adjusted positions while permitting swinging movement thereof, and threaded means for adjusting and retaining said adjusting member in its adjusted positions.

8. Inacurtain ordraperyflxturathecanblnawith said adtion or a bracket having two vertically spaced pin supporting members, the upper of which has an opening adapted to receive a pin and laterally support the same w 1e permitting canting adjustment thereof, the lower havinga transversely extending slot aligned with said pin opening, a curtain or drapery supporting member provided with a pin engaged in said pin opening and extending into said slot, and an adjusting member slidably arranged and supported on said bracket, said adjusting member having a surface inclined tothe direction of adjustment of the adjusting member, said inclined surface wedgingly coacting with said pin for tiltingly adjusting and supporting the pin in its adjusted positions in said slot.

9. In a curtain or drapery fixture, the combination of a curtain or drapery supporting rod provided with a pin, a bracket member having vertically spaced rod pin receiving members, the upper member being adapted to pivotally receive said pin, the lower member being slotted to permit said pin being swung laterally therein, an adjusting member mounted on said bracket member for adjustment in a direction transversely of said pin and having a bearing surface inclined to its direction oi adjustment for wedging-like coaction with the pin of said rod for tiltingly supporting it in said slot and means on said bracket member for holding said adjusting member in adjusted position.
