Referring now to the drawings, Ais a distributor embodying our invention and constituting a part of a machine illustrated generally inFigure 1 for manufacturing carpet of the cemented pile type.
As shown in'Figure l, the'carpet material l0 such as burlap covered rubber, is advanced through the machine with the burlap side thereof uppermost so that the upper surface of the burlap may be coated or covered with an adhesive substance or cement as the material passes through an adhesive applying mechanism l l. A distributor having a casing provided at the top and' bottom thereof with an inlet and an outlet respectively for fibers, the top portion of the casing containing the inlet being inverted substantially V-shape in cross section with the inlet at approximately the apex of the V, laterally spaced pivots carried by said casing below said inlet, deflector plates suspended from said pivots and extending downwardly within said casing for directing fibers from the inlet toward certain areas of the outlet, spaced shafts below and substantially parallel to the pivots for the deflector plates, meshing gears on said shafts, levers fixed to said shafts, links connecting the levers to said deflector plates, and means for turning one of said shafts to cause simultaneous movement of the levers, links and deflector plates.

A distributor having a casing provided at the top and bottom thereof with an inlet and an outlet respectively for fibers, laterally spaced pivots carried by the casing across and below the inlet, deflector plates suspended from said pivots and extending downwardly within said casing for directing fibers from the inlet toward certain areas of the outlet, spaced shafts between said deflector plates, meshing gears on said shafts, levers fixed to said shafts, links connecting the levers to said deflector plates, and means for turning one of said shafts to cause simultaneous movement of the levers, links and deflector plates.

A distributor having a casing provided at the top and bottom thereof with an inlet and an outlet respectively for fibers, spaced pivots carried by the casing across and below the inlet, deflector plates suspended from said pivots and extending downwardly within said casing for directing fibers from the inlet toward certain areas of the outlet, the upper ends of said deflector plates terminating at said spaced pivots to provide therebetween a space in registration with said inlet, spaced shafts between said deflector said shafts to cause simultaneous movement of a the levers, links and deflector plates.

A distributor having a casing provided at the top and bottom thereof with an inlet and an outlet for fibers, two pivots spaced laterally apart below the inlet, deflector plates suspended from said pivots and extending downwardly within said casing for directing fibers from the inlet toward certain areas of the outlet, the upper ends of said deflector plates terminating at said pivots to provide therebetween a space in registration with the inlet for the passage of fibers, a pair of shafts spaced laterally apart below the pivots, levers fixed to said shafts, links connecting the levers to said deflector plates, and a driving connection between said shafts operable to move the levers, links and deflector plates simultaneously.

A distributor having a casing provided at the top and bottom thereof with an inlet and an outlet for fibers, two pivots spaced laterally apart below the inlet, deflector plates suspended from said pivots and extending downwardly within said casing for directing fibers from the inlet toward certain areas of the outlet, the upper ends of said deflector plates terminating at said pivots to provide therebetween a space in registration with the inlet for, the passage of fibers, a pair of shafts spaced laterally apart below the pivots,
levers fixed to said shafts, links connecting the levers to the deflector plates, and means for actuating said shafts to move the levers, links and deflector plates.
12. A distributor having a casing provided at the top and bottom thereof with an inlet and an outlet for fibers, two pivots spaced laterally apart below the inlet, deflector plates suspended from said pivots and extending downwardly within said casing for directing fibers from the inlet toward certain areas of the outlet, a pair of shafts spaced laterally apart below the pivots, levers fixed to said shafts, links connecting the levers to the deflector plates, and means for actuating said shafts to move the levers, links and deflector plates.
