. .In this instance, thelcop winding machine used .isprovided with-a gear box I through which passes awindingspindle 2 carrying a coupling member 3 which is rotatably arranged thereon to the. driving disc 4, serving for cooperating with a wedge shaped belt (not shown) which can be actuated from a motor. The coupling member-3 ,is adapted to cooperate with a mating coupling member 5, which is also carried by the vwinding spindle 2, and is connected for common rotation with said spindle 2, by means of a spline B beingv arranged in a groove, but so as to be axially displaceable on'said spindle by means of .an arm '1 which is secured to a control shaft 8 which is in turn cont-rolled by means not shown. The parts I and 8 inclusive of accessories are omitted from Fig. 1'. A worm 9 is firmly secured to the winding spindle 2 and inter-meshes with on a; vertical axle pin l I fixed to the gear box I.

This arrangement results in continuously reliablyguiding" the displaceable half 5 of the drive coupling.

I claim:
1. In a driving arrangement for a thread guide cooperating with a winding spindle, particularly for cop winding machines, the combination with 5 a thread guide traversing disc rotatable on an axis at right angles to said spindle, a change speed gear drive, including detachably mounted "reducing-gears drivingly connected between said traversing disc and said winding spindle, of a worm gear operatively connected to said change .speed gear drive andsaid spindle, and a rockable arm operablyconnected between said disc and the thread :g-uides.

In a driving arrangement for a thread guide cooperating with a winding spindle, particularly for cop winding machines, the combination with a thread guide traversing disc rotatable on an axis at right angles to said spindle, a change speed gear drive, including. exchangeable reducing gears drivingly connected between said trav-' ersing disc and said winding spindleof a worm gear operatively connected to said change speed gear drive and said spindle, said worm gear being fixedly mounted directly on said winding spindle,
a drive coupling comprising two complementary halves mounted on said integral winding spindle,
a driving pulley mounted on said winding spindle, and connected with the driving. half of said coupling for rotating said spindle, said rotation of said winding spindle being transmitted to said I change speed gear drive via said worm gear, and a rockable arm operably connected between said disc and the thread guide.
