For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a sideelevation illustrating a loader constructed in accordance with my invention and showing said loader arranged in a mine drift or lateral for the purpose of loading a mine car with ore.

Referring in detail to the drawings, thenumeral 5 indicates a car capable oftraveling. on a mine track and is employed in the construction of the present invention to render the latter portable. The car 5 is equipped with a turntable 6 carrying a body 1 on which is adjustably mounted a ramp 8 including an inclined portion 9 and a substantially horizontal portion l0 provided with a discharge opening I l (see Figure 2) The inclined portion 9 is of sectional formation, the sections being connected by a hinge l2v (see Figure 1) which will permit one section to be folded on the other section'when the device is not in use.
This arrangement facilitates the movement of the device within a mine drift or lateral, indicated by the character A. yOne of the sections of the inclined portion 9 is adapted to rest with its outer end upon the floor of the drift or lateral when the device is iny use so that a scraper I3k may easily move onto and off ofthe ramp. The turntable 6 permits the body 1 and ramp 8 to be swung laterally for the purpose of' bringing the receiving end of the ramp in proper location with respect to the ore, designated by the character B, and for bringing the opening Il4 over a mine car 26.
The platform I9 supports a powerV driven winch 21 controlled by a clutch mechanism 28. The cable I6 is secured to and wound on one of the drums of the winch, while the other drum thereof has the cable I8 secured thereto and partly wound thereon. The cable I6 travels 'over the floor of the ramp and over a pulley 29 before 'reaching its respective drum.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
l. In a mine car loader, a portable conveyance including a turntable supporting a body, a ramp extending longitudinally of the body and projecting forwardly and rearwardly therefrom,
`means for adjusting the front and rear ends of the ramp on the body,ja scraper for gathering materials ylongitudinally and v moving ,said materials over the ramp from front to rear thereof,
l and a compensating power means carried by the body and connected to the scraper for moving the latter in opposite directions in working relation lto the ramp 4in all adjusted working positions of the ramp.
2. In a mine car loader, a portable conveyance including a turntable supporting a body, a. ramp extending longitudinally of the body and including? an inclined portion and a horizontal portion having a discharge opening, said inclined portion consisting of a'hingedly connected outer section kprojecting rearwardly of the body with one end engageable with thel ground, means for vertically adjusting the inclined portion on the body, a scraper for movement over the ramp and for gathering material, a power driven operating means including flexible cables connected to the scrapeigsaid power operating means carried by the body, and a boom for guiding the movement of one of the cables.,
