The article produced is substan- The object of the invention is to provide a device made of separable parts which are easily manipulated and which, when assembled pro;- vide a ready means for receiving wool or similar strands. v'I'he'finished article is released from the device by simply separating the parts and lifting the completed article from the device.

. The device has the advantage of being small and compact, and is also cheaply manufactured as it comprises only two parts easily assembled and easily separated.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a top view of showing a strand in the initial turns taken to Figure 2 is a central crossv erably made of wood, although plastic or metal a may be used. H The disc is, provided with a pin I3 which is secured to the under side of the disc l0. As the pin is adapted to be readily removed it is prefstably held inplace by means of a tight fit on the pin in the recess [4. The recess I4 is usually placed in the center of the bottom of the disc.

' Other means may be employed to detachably attach the pin to the disc.

The device is used by assembling the disc and the pin and then winding a strand over and under the disc, each tur'nunder the disc being passed around the pin l3.- One method of winding is shown in Figure 1. The strand I5 is held by the thumb at I, then passed over the disc in a recess or groove ll then under the disc as at 2, then around the pin I3 as at 3 then to the next recess ll at4, across th disc at 5 and then under the disc at 6 around the pin l3 and then to the recess at 1 and so on around the disc. After all the loops are finished the two ends of the strand and the central partof the crossed strands are gathered by stitching I6 to form a rosette.

After the rosette is thus secured the pin I3 is removed and the loops I! are released from the pin and the rosette can be straightened out and is ready-for use as a unit or to be connected to with others to form a larger article.

The form shown inFigures 1 and 2 with the tapered slots ll terminating short of the center of the top of the'disc is designed to facilitate 'a device embodying the invention, and also the sewing of the center of the rosette as the central part of the strands are raised, above those parts in the grooves II and the sewing of the central part is facilitated.

dially arranged grooves in-its top face and extending to the rim, the grooves being deepest at the rim and tapering toward the center of the member, the member having a recess in the bottom face thereof, and a pin fitting in the recess and readily removable therefrom.

2. A device for forming rosette-like articles comprising a fiat circular member having radially extending tapered grooves in its top face, and a pin removably secured to the bottom face thereof.

3. A device for forming rosette-like articles comprising a member having grooves in its .top face extending to and being deepest at the rim and tapering toward the center of the member, themember having a recess in the bottom face thereof, and a pin fitting in the recess and readily removable therefrom.
