1 Claim. ('01. as -57) This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in lens holder especially adapted for use in connection with moving picture projectors and has for its object the provision of an improved construction of this character which will be highly efficient in use and economical in manufacture.
Among the several objects of this invention is the production of a lens holder formed from a single blank of material bent to form a circular housing with the lens holding elements and the housing attaching feet struck from the blank, thus providing a lens holder which requires the minimum number of operations for its production. A still further and equally important object of the invention is the provision of lens holding elements struck from a blank of material in staggered relation with respect to each other thereby greatly facilitating and expediting the mounting of the lens in the holder, requiring merely simple tools in such operation.
Other objects will appear hereinafter. .The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed. i
The invention Will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing showing I the preferred form of construction, and in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the blank from which my improved lens holder is formed;
' Fig. 2 is an end view 'of the lens holder formed from the blank shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a side view of the same; and Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view of the same.
Thedrawing shows my preferred form of con at 12. These overlapping end portions are secured together by any suitable means such for example by spot welding or the like.
From this blank are struck supporting legs 13 having fet l4 perforatedi as at IE to receive attaching elements (not shown) whereby to facilitate attaching the holder in its proper place as an element of the projecting machine.
At opposite side edge portions Hi there is struck from the blank, in staggered relation with respect to each other lens holder, lugs l1. Between these lugs I! a lens I8 is mounted.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that to produce the lens holder it requires but few operations and that to mount the lens in place within the holder requires amere simple tool such for example a small screw driver.
The simplicity of construction of my improved lens holder is obvious from the foregoing description read in the light of the accompanying drawing. V
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into efiect, this is capable ofvariation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details ofconstruca tion set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described. my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is: i
A lens holder formed from a single blank of material bent to form a circular housing having overlapping end portions, means for securing said end portions together, attaching legs struck from said blank and having perforated feet to facilitate attachment to a support, and lens supporting lugs struck from said blank at predetermined intervals along each side edge of said blank and in staggered relation with respect to i each other, and lens elements mounted [between said lugs.
