orkiddy coops. t D v One of the principal obiects of my invention is to provide a kiddy coop so constructedrand arranged whereby the Same may be operated from an extended or opened, position to a collapsed or closed position whereby the coop will occupy a. minimum amount of space .thereby facilitating the storing and/or transporting ofthe saine.

Another object, of my invention is to provide a coop 4of the` foregoing described character equipped with windshield means whereby to pro.

With the above and other objects in vewgas will hereinafter appear, the invention consists in the combination, and arrangement ,of parts. hereinafter set forth and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, from which the. several features of the invention andthe advantages attained thereby will be readily .understood by those skilled inthe art. My novel form of infants pen or kiddy coop 5, as illustrated in the drawings, comprises pairs of side and end walls 6 and I respectively,`the latter walls 1 being pivotally connected to ver- The coop 5 is provided with a cover I0 and a floor I I, the latter being hinged to the lower marginal interior face of one of the side walls G by means of hinges I2.

The side walls 6 are constructed with upper and the coop in lower sections I 3 and I4 respectively and with the igurel is a side elevation'of xnyinvention withy lower sections having theirends fixed to thev standards 8. The other pair of end sections 26 normally engage the ground to preclude movement of the coop while their respective standards are provided with handles 21 whereby said end sections 26 may be raised to facilitate movement illustrated in Figures 4to 6` disposed a wire mesh screen 30 whereby the infant may receive fresh air.

In order to protect the infant against drafts or strong winds, the upper marginal outer face of one of the lower sections I4 is provided with a pair of hooks 3| to which is detachably connected a windshield 32 overlying the apertures in said section, it being understood that the coop is moved to a position to present the windshield against or in the path of the wind.

In order to operate the coop from opened or extended position to closed or collapsed position, the cover I is pivoted over and into appressed relation with one of the side walls 6, the floor l I hinged upwardly within the coop to dispose its free end adjacent said side wall with the rope 28 disposed over said free end to maintain the floor in raised position, and the end walls pivoted inwardly to dispose the side walls into close proximity with each other. Obviously, a reverse of the foregoing described operation serves to operate the coop to open or extended position for use by an infant.

While I have shown and described one of the side walls as having the Windshield 32 detachably connected thereto, it is to be understood that all the walls may be provided with similar windshields or that a single windshield may be employed for selective use with a particular wall. Furthermore the windshield may be constructed of any desired material and that the same may be opaque or transparent.

Without further elaboration the foregoing will so 4fully explain the invention that others may, by applying current knowledge, readily adapt the same for use under various conditionstof service. Moreover, it4 is not indispensable that all the features of the invention be used conjointly since they may be employed advantageously in various combinations and sub-combinations.

It is obvious that the invention is not confined to the herein described use therefore as it may be utilized for any purpose to which it is adaptable. It is therefore to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific construction as illustrate'd and described as the same is only illustrative of the principles of operation, which are capable of extended application in various forms, and that the invention comprehends all construction within the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is: v

l. An infants pen, comprising a pair of oppositely disposed side Walls equipped at their ends with` supporting standards, each of said side walls provided with a pair of upper and lower sections and with one of the latter being fixed tothe respective standards and khinged to the other section t0 permit pivoting of said other section relative to said respective standards, a pair of oppositely disposed end walls each hinged' to a pair of said standards at coincident ends of said side walls and provided with a pair of portions hingedly connected together for operation to collapsed and extended positions to permit said side Walls to assume relative retracted and extended positions respectively, a pair of arms having coincident ends pivotally connected to the standards of one of said side walls, a cover pivotally connected to the other ends of said arms and disposed between the upper ends of the end walls for engagement with said upper ends to maintain said portions of said end walls in said extended positions, said arms being operable to dispose said cover, from between said upper ends, to a position in substantially appressed relation with the other of said side walls to permit said portions of said end walls to be operated to said collapsed positions and maintained therein by said arms, and a floor hinged to one of said side Walls and movable upwardly to a raised position adjacent said last mentioned wall to permit operation of said side walls to said retracted position by said end walls, a flexible element carried by said standards and extending about the inner faces of said walls, said element functioning to support the occupant of said pen in an upright position when said side walls are in said extended position and to support said floor in said raised position to facilitate operation of said side walls to said retracted position.

2. In a folding pen, a pair of side walls, a pair of folding end walls connecting the side walls together at their ends for maintaining said side walls in an extended position with respect to each other, said end Walls being foldable between the side Walls to permit operation of the side walls toward each other to a retracted position, a pair of arms having coincident ends pivotally connected to one of said side Walls, a cover pivotally connected to the other ends of said arms and disposed between said end walls to engage the latter against folding, said arms being operable to dispose said cover, from between said end walls, to a position adjacent the side of the other side wall, upon folding of said end walls and operation of said side walls to said retracted position, a iloor hinged to one of said side walls and movable to a raised position adjacent said last mentioned wall to permit operation of said side walls to said retracted position upon folding of said end walls, a flexible element connected to said side walls and extending about their inner faces and functioning to support the occupant of said pen in an upright position when said side walls are in said extended position and to support said floor in said raised position to facilitate operation of said side walls to Said retracted position, whereby, said side walls are retained in said retracted position by said arms.
