Application April 14, 1942, Serial No. 438,946
1 Claim.
The present invention relates to new and use-- ful improvements in paste or cream dispensers, and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, adevice of this character comprising a novel construction and arrangement whereby any desired quantity of paste or cream may be conveniently dispensed in a neat, sanitary manner.
,Another very important objectof the invention is to provide a dispenser of the aforementioned character which embodies unique ejecting means whereby leakage will be positively prevented and substantially all of the paste or cream may be dispensed, thereby preventing waste.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a dispenser of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong,
durable, highly efiicient and reliable in use, compact, attractive in appearance, and which may be parent from a study of the following specification,
taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in side elevation, of a paste or cream dispenser constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a view in vertical section through the device.
Figure 3 is an elevational view of the container with the lower portion thereof broken away in section.
Figure 4 is a view in horizontal section, taken substantially on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a detail view in elevation of the resilient plunger or follower with a portion thereof broken away in section.
Figure 6 is a bottom plan view of the plunger or follower.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a threaded post I, which post may be'of any suitable length, diameter and material. The post I includes a smooth, right angularly extending lower end portion 2 terminating in a base 3. The base 3 is apertured to accommodate screws 4 for permanently securing post I in. position on a wall or other support 5. The post I further includes a substantially rounded upper end 6.
Threadedly and removably mounted on the post I is a container I of suitable material for the paste or cream 8. The container I includes an internally reduced, threaded lower end-portion 9 which is adapted to be screwed on the post I. Thus, a shoulder I0 is provided in the lower portion of the container I.
Resting on the shoulder I0 is a substantially cup-shaped follower .II of soft rubber. The follower II constitutes a closure for the open lower end of the container 1 prior to the mounting: of said container on the post I. g j
At its upper end,the container I terminates in a reduced, externally threaded discharge neck I2. Threadedly mounted on the neck I2 is a'cap I3 of suitable material. I
It is thought that the manner in which the dispenser functions will be readily apparent from a. consideration of the foregoing. Briefly, the post I is permanently mounted on the wallnor other support 5 and the container I is purchased with the paste or cream 8 therein. To dispense the pasteor cream 8, the container I is'threaded downwardly on the post I. Of course, the cap I3 is removed and as the container I is screwed downwardly on the post I, the follower II is forced upwardly by said post for ejectingthe paste or cream through the open discharge neck I2. The rounded upper end 6 of the post I dis: torts the resilient rubber follower I I in a manner to press the periphery thereof outwardly against the walls ofthe container I for positively preventing leakage of the paste or cream pastsaid follower. This construction and arrangement s also permits the post I to force the resilient, sub stantially cup-shaped follower II upwardly, into the conical portion I4 for ejecting substantially all of the paste or cream from the container.
It is believed that the many advantages of a paste or cream dispenser constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to which cap removably mounted on said neck, the circular wall at the other end of said container being internally increased in thickness to provide an in-' ternalannular shoulder therein, said shoulder being longitudinally extended, said eiitended shoulder being internally threaded, a cup-shaped flexible elastic follower disk resting on said shoulder and forming a closure for said other end of the container, and a material-expelling post removably threaded into the container at said thickened internally threaded end, said post being separate from the follower disk and having a convexed end centrally engaging the follower substantially completely expelling the material therefrom.
I LEONARD JOHN SONGER.
