2 claims.
The invention relates to improvements in dispensers especially adapted for dispensing paper i cups andsalt tablets for use therein, the primary object of the invention being the provision of an improved arrangement of the character indicated which is of simple construction and highly efficient and convenient in use.
Other objects will appear thereinafter.
The invention consists of the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and in which- Fig. 1 is a top plan view shown partially in horizontal section of a dispenser embodying the invention;
Fig. 2, a partial side view of the same in which the lower portion thereof is shown in vertical section; and
Fig. 3, a partial front view of the same.
The embodiment of 'the invention illustrated in the drawing comprises a suitable cabinet I having a removable cover II and provided on one side with a supporting member I2 adapted and arranged to engage with a corresponding supporting bracket for removably supporting the same on a wall or other vertical surface. The casing I0 is divided by a vertical partition I3 into two compartments or magazines I4 and I5. The magazine I4 is open at the bottom but is provided at its bottorn with wedge-shaped blocks I 6 adapted and arranged to removably support cups I1'in said magazine, with the lower end of the lowermost cup protruding from the bottom of the magazine for ready removal thereof from the magazine, as Will be readily understood.
The other magazine I is arranged as indicated in front of the cup magazine I4, and has its bottom i8 positioned Well above the bottom of the magazine I4 as indicated, said bottom being pro-` vided centrally adjacent its outer edge with a discharge opening I9. By this construction a positioning shoulder `is provided to the rear of the discharge opening I9 in position to facili; tate the arrangement of a cup I1 under said discharge opening to receive a tablet therefrom, as indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 2.
'A discharge wheel 2l is rotatably mounted by means of the screw 22 on the bottom vliigol `the magazine I5 with its edge 23 protruding'through a slot formed in the front wall of said magazine. The wheel 2| is provided with two diametrically arranged openings or pockets 24 extending therethrough, and so positioned as to be brought into registration with the discharge opening I9 in the bottom I8 when said Wheel is revolved. As will be noted, the discharge opening I9 is arranged under the slot in the front wall of the magazine I5 in such position that when one of the openings 24 is brought into registration therewith, it is Within the slot in the front Wall of the mechanism so as to be effectively covered against the discharge of additional tablets. A sight pocket 25 is arranged in the front Wall of the magazine I5 and covered by a transparent sheet 21, and whereby one or more tablets 25 may be secured in said opening to indicate the contents of the magazine I5. y
In use and in operation the magazine I4 is filled with cups, with the lowermost cup protruding through the open bottom thereof and the magazine I5 supplied with salt tablets 25 or the like. When it is desired to remove a cup and supply the same with a salt tablet, the lowermost cup `is drawn downwardly through the open bottom of the magazine I4, the top of the cup yielding inwardly suflicient to permit of this. Then said cup is held centrally under the bottom of the magazine I5 with its rear edge positioned against the shoulder 20,' and the wheel 2I manipulated by the tumb or ngers of the operator until one of the tablets is dispensed through the opening I9 into the cup. Owing to the fact that when the openings 24 are brought into registration with the opening I9, the top of the former is covered by the front wall of the magazine I5 and only one tablet can be discharged at a time. By this arrangement the dispensing of the cups I 1 with salt tablets 25 therein is greatly facilitated and 'the handling of the salt tablets absoi lutely dispensed with. y
The specic form and arrangement of parts is a simple and eiective one for the purpose.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying the invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modication without departing from the spirit of the invention. I therefore do no wish registering with said wheel opening whenv in said slot.
2. A tablet dispenser specified in claim 1 in which means are provided at the bottom of said magazine against which a cup is held for positioning the same to receive a tablet discharged through said bottom opening.
