PIN FOR TEMPORARY FASTENING OF BUTTONS Original Filed March 23, 1939 THE A 5-TUMPF /nvem or' Ahorney Patented Mar. 6, 1945 PIN Foe TEMPORARY FASTENING i BUTTONS Thea Stumpf, Frankfort-on-the-Main. Germany; vested in the Alien Property Custodian Original application March 23, 1939, SerialNo.
Divided and this application October 2, 1940, Serial No. 359,453. In-Germany February 11, 1937 3 Claims. (01. 24150),
This invention relates to improvements in pins j to be used for the temporary fastening of buttons when fitting-or trying on various articles of wearing. apparel.
In United'States patent application, Serial No. 263,662, filed March 23, 1939, of which the present application is a division, there are disclosed pins to be used for temporaryfastening of buttons when fitting or trying on various articles of wearing apparel.
It is most important, when trying on an article of wear, to first temporarily fix the buttons belonging toit perfectly in the desired position,'and in such a manner that they can easily be removed and replaced by other buttons of a different shape if necessary. By this means the choice of the most suitable button is greatly simplified, and
the same can then be sewn on in the exact position required, when the fitting is finished.
The temporary fastening and easy changing of buttons, when trying on or fitting articles of wearing apparel, is the aim of this invention,
which is in the form of a pin with a shaft bent at the upper end in rectangular form, with a catch for a button with two or more holes, the buttons thus temporarily fixed being intended to be sewn afterwards, in .the usual manner, on the article of dress in question.
For a more complete understanding of the invention there will now be described, by way of example only and with reference to the accompanying drawing, several forms of temporary fastening according to the present invention.
In this drawing:
Fig. 1 represents a side elevation ofthe pin of this invention, showing the temporary fastened button with holes;
Fig. 2 is aside elevation of the invented ,pins for fastening a button with four holes and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the pin following Figs. 1 and 2. Y
The pin l, as shown in Fig. 1, is intended to ,temporarily fasten two-hole buttons B, when trying on articles of wearing apparel. The upper which keeps the button B with the two holes with four holes C.
end 2 of the shaft of the pin l is bent in rectangular form, and is providedat the end of this with a suitably constructed catch 9, see Fig. 3,
temporarily in position afterithe pin has been stuck into the material in the usual way.
When a-button has four holes 0, theshaft of the pin I can be provided with two catches at different angles to each other, or two pins, l-- 2-9, can be used to temporarily fasten a button I claim:
1. A fastener for temporarily securing perfo rated buttons to fabrics and the like, comprising an elongated pin having a pointed end portion for penetrating the fabric, an intermediate length for'fitting into a button perforation, and a flattened relatively wide opposite end portion lying in a plane disposed substantially at right angles to the plane containing said intermediate length and end portion, said intermediate length extending from the edge of said fiat end portion in a direction substantially normal to the plane of said end portion, and said pointed end portion extending at substantially right angles from the projecting end of said intermediate length, where by one face of said button will be confined on said intermediate length by said flat end, and the other face will be confined by said pointed end portion. a =2; A fastener according to claim 1 wherein said end portions projectsubstantially in opposite directions from the'opposite ends of said intermediate length.
3. A fastener according to claim 1 wherein said end portions project substantially in the same direction from the opposite ends of said inter-' mediate length. I I
