2 Claim s. (01. 2146) This invention relates to articles of neckwear such as neckties and more particularly to bow ties primarily intended to be worn by women and girls. I

The novel features of the articles of neckwearembodying the present invention and the method of makin said articles will be hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying illustrative drawing. i

example, one of the ties made according to the present invention is about one yard in length, each bow forming portion 22 being almost twelve inches in length and about three inches in width,

the neck encircling portion being about one inch in width. These dimensions, however, are in no way to be considered as limitative of the present invention, but are set forth for the purpose of more fully describing the preferred embodiment of the invention.

Thenecktie IDA illustrated in Figs. '2 to 11 is of substantially the same construction as the tie in and. like the latter, is made from a rectangular strip of material such as the strip 12 illustrated in Fig. 2, fabricated into the blank IZA, but in the construction of tie IDA the longitudinally extended pleated portion |8A instead of being stitched in pleated formation by a plurality of transverse lines of stitching is held in said pleated relation by a line of stitching 26 which extends 3 peripherally of the fabric label 28. The pleated portion |8A merges into the bow forming parts 22A as indicated at 24A, the bow forming parts 22A being fiat as indicated in Fig. 9.

While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it bvill be understood that various changes may be made therein. Also it will be understood that the article of neckwear embodying the present invention may be formed into a bow of any suitable type, not necessarily of the type illustrated in the drawing. Accordingly, I do not wish to be limited to the construction hereinspecifically illus trated or described except to the extent which may be required by the scope of the, appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. An article of neckwear comprising a neckband part and bow-forming end parts, said neckband part having longitudinally extending folded portions terminating at their ends at adjacent portions, respectively, of said bow-forming end parts, whereby, said neck-band is substantially narrower than said bow-forming end parts, said end parts consisting of a single thickness of fabric integral with said neck-band part, said end and neck-band parts having a narrow hemmed edge at the ends of said end parts and at both side edges of said end and neck-band parts, said folded portions of said neck-band part lying inwardly of said hemmed edge portions of said neck-band part, a strip of fabric superimposed on said neck-band part, and a line of stitching extending through said neck-band part and said fabric strip around the edge of said strip and near the opposite edges of said neck-band part.

2. An article ofneckwear comprising a singleply flat strip of fabric having its edge hemmed completely therearound and having an intermediate longitudinally extending portion thereof folded inwardly along a plurality of fold lines, respectively, spaced inwardly from the hemmed edges of said intermediate portion and folded outwardly along a plurality of fold lines spaced inwardly from said first mentioned fold lines, respectively, of said intermediate portion, and terminating in said hemmed edges, respectively, of said intermediate portion, and fiat bow-forming end portions extending longitudinally beyond the opposite ends, respectively, of said intermediate portion, said flat bow-forming end portions consisting of a single thickness of.fabric integral with said intermediate part.
