1 Claim.
The purpose of our invention is to provide a shock absorber for parachute jumpers which is attached to the feet and when the jumper hits the ground, the shock is absorbed in our invention and eliminates the danger of injuries to the body, particularly the legs.
Our invention is simple in design and may be readily attached or detached in a minimum of time and physical efiort.

Figure 1 is a top plan view.

We attain these objects by the means illustrated in the drawing accompanying this specification, in which Numeral l is the shock absorber for parachute jumper, one for each leg; numeral 2 is the bottom spring plate, the forward end of which is coiled at 3 and wound around bar 4, held in rigid position by means of face plates 5 and locked by cotter-pins B; the rear of the bottom spring plate 2 is coiled at I and wound around the bar 8 and held in rigid position by means of face plates 9 and cotter-pins Ill. The upper spring plate II is coiled at forward end l2, wound around the bar l3 and held in rigid position by means of face plates 5 and locked by cotter-pins I4. The upper spring plate at rear end is coiled around bar and held in rigid position by means of face plates 9 and cotter-pins Hi. The upwardly I plate II.

At the top of bar I! a steel strap [8a is held in secured position and is snapped around the leg being readily attached and detached. The strap I8 is placed around the shoe and held in secured position at openings [9 on each of the face plates 9. The front shoe strap 20 is inserted through slots 2| and 2! in the upper spring Grooves or corrugations are shown at 22; cushioned springs are shown at 23.
Slight changes may be made in our invention without departing from the broad scope of the invention.
We claim:
A shock absorber for use on each leg and shoe of a parachute jumper; comprising a base spring rolled front and rear over steel bars; an upper plate rolled at each end over steel bars front and rear; a vertical shaft on each side attached to said upper plate; face plates front and rear connecting the adjacent bars and held in place by means Of cotter pins inserted through the holes at the ends of the bars; cushioned springs insertecl between said upper plate and said base spring: a circular steel spring attached to said vertical shafts; said base plate having corrugated grooves at the bottom; and straps on the front and rear of the shock absorber for attachment to the shoe.
