-3 Claims. (01. 206-16) The present invention to a tool case for cleaning tools employed with suction cleaners. An object of the invention is to provide a new and improved kit for suction cleaning tools. A V
further object is to provide a tool kit which is self-supporting in an erect' position. Another object is to provide a kit having an enlarged base to support the kit in erect position and also to engage the tools therein at spaced points toprovide multiple lateral supports for the tools. ther objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description and attached drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the tool kit suspended from a door knob;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a member for supporting the tools laterally and forming part of the base of the tool kit;
Figure 3 isa perspective view of the blank forming the base of the tool kit, and the lateral tool supporting member arranged for assembly in; the base;
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the base partially folded prior to assembly on the panel of the The embodiment of the invention disclosed herein comprises a tool kit I having a panel H and a base i 2 including a lateral tool supporting member I3. The panel II is formed of relatively stiif cardboard or fibreboard or the like, and includes an insert M of stifi material which extends throughout the height of the tool kit and an exterior fibreboard cover |5 which forms front and rear walls l5 and I1, respectively, covering the panel insert H. A flap is provided on-the panel cover I5 and is folded over the top edge of the panelinsert 4 and is secured to the latter by fastening means such as staples 2 I. Attached to the panel covering l5 by means of staples 22 are tool holders 23, 24 and 25, the holders 23 and 24 supporting the upper ends ofthe tools 25 and 21, while the holder 25 supports a brush 25., Each of these holders is formed of ilbreboard 29 and the ends 3|! are passed through slots in the panel cover front wall l5 and folded over along the interior surface thereof and these ends are then attached to the panel covering i5 by the staples 22.
The bight portion of each holder is spaced from The upper end 34 of the flbreboard forming the holder 25 is provided with diametrically opposed recesses 35 which receive the transverse portion 25 of the brush 25 to hold the transverse portion 35 spaced away from the panel cover l5 and thereby tilt the brush 25 downwardly and rearwardly towards the panel cover l5 whereby the lower end of the brush abuts the'cover 5, and the recesses 35 also prevent rotation of the brush 28 in the holder 25.
The lateral tool supporting member. i3 form ing part of the base I2 is formed from a blank 39 of relatively rigid fibreboard and isfolded alon lines 40, 4| and 42 to form a triangular crosssection 43 defined by walls 44, 45 and 45, while a flat bottom wall 41 extends rearwardly from the apex 48 of the triangular section 43 and is provided with openings 38 and 50 for a purpose hereinafter described. Prior to folding the blank 39 along the line 4|, four cut-outs 49 are formed therein and upon folding the blank along the line 4|, the cut-outs 49 form aligned openings 5| disposed in the walls 44 and 45 to receive the lower ends of the cleaning tools 26, 21, 52 and 55. The wall 44 is downwardly and forwardly inclined with respect to the top wall 45 whereby the defining edges of the openings 5| in the walls 44 and 45 engage the lower extremities of the cleaning tools 25, 21, 52 and 53 at spaced points to provide a plurality of lateral supports for the tools-at spaced points.
The base I2 is formed from a blank 55 of relatively rigid fibreboard'and is cut to form two pairs of flaps 55, 55 and 51, 51 and is creased at 58', 55, 50, 5| and 52 to form walls 53, 54, 55, 56, 51 and 58, and provided in the wall 55 are four openings 10 formed by hinged tabs 1|.
In order to assemble the base i2 and the lateral tool supporting member IS. the apex 59 of the latter is placed against the crease 59 in the base I2, and the edge of the lower wall 41 of the member I3 is placed against the crease 58 and thereafter the wall 55 is folded along the crease 1 59 to lie contiguous with the wall 45 of the member I3. In this position the tabs 1| formed in providing openings 10 are folded along the crease 59 through the openings 5| so as to be 5|. Thereafter the wall 55 is folded along the crease 50 to lie adjacent the wall 45 of the triangular section 43 and the flaps 51 folded along their creases 12 to close the open ends of the -member I 5, the flaps 55 are folded at their creases 12 with their lips 14 and 15 inserted between the walls 54, 45 and 55, 41, respectively. The flaps 55 and 61 are secured together by staples T1 to hold the base I 2 in the form of a parallelogram and retain the member l3 therein.
The base I! is attached to the panel II by foldingthe wall 66 along the crease 62 to lie along the rear surface of the panel and is secured to the latter by staples 16. The base I! is additionally fastened to the panel II by means of staples 19 extending through the tabs H, wall 64 and panel ll. I
A handle 80 is provided at the upper end of the panel I I and comprises a pair of flexible straps 8| and 82 having their opposite ends attached I -together as at 83 and are secured to the rear wall I! of the panel cover I! by means of staples 36. The straps are arranged side by side and when separated a dusting tool hose 86 may be from the kit and attached to the opposite end of the hose 66. It will be noted that the tools 26 and 21 have their lower ends supported in the base l2 and their upper ends in holders 23 and 24, respectively. The tools 52 and 53 are supported solely by the base I! and due to the spaced walls 44 and 46 in the base, the tools are supported laterally at a plurality of spaced points to prevent the tools from tilting sidewise .in the openings 6|. The tools 52 and 63 have their extreme lower ends resting on the wall 63 of the base l2 and are disposed in the openings 38 and 60, respectively, in the bottom wall of the member I3.
