The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in game boards of a somewhat similar nature to the well known jig-saw puzzle, and ha for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of this character comprising a novel construction and arrangement whereby two or more players may compete and the playing of which will be highly entertaining.
Qther objects of the invention are to provide a game of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong, durable, attractive in appearance and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of a game constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a view in side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a view in vertical section, taken substantially on the line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view on a reduced scale, taken substantially on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of one of the pieces.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a substantially square board I, which board may be of any suitable dimensions and material. The board I is provided with upstanding marginal walls 2.
Mounted centrally on the board I is a circular base 3. Partitions 4 radiate from the base 3 to the corner portions of the board I. The partitions 4 divide the board into a plurality of substantially triangular playing sections 6.
The sections 6 have formed therein openings 1 of various shapes for the reception of pieces 8, no two of the openings in the entire board being alike. A single piece 8 is provided for each of the openings 1 and each piece conforms in shape only to the single opening in which it is to be placed.
Various rules may be followed in the playing of the game, At the start, all of the pieces 8 are mixed in the receptacle It! and each player is assigned one of the sections 6. Briefly, at a given signal, play starts and all of the participants remove the pieces 8, one at a time, from the receptacle Hi and endeavor to fit them in the openings 'i of their respective sections 6. If the piece selected is not the correct one for one of the openings l in the section 6 of the player by whom it was chosen, said piece must be returned to the receptacle. The player who first fills all of his openings 1 with the correct pieces 8 wins the game. By raising the board I, the pieces 8 drop on through the openings 1 to be recovered and replaced in the receptacle Ill preparatory to the start of a new game.
It is believed that the many advantages of a game device constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of said device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
A game of the class described comprising a board of substantially square plan, marginal walls rising from the board, a circular base mounted centrally on the board, partitions on the board radiating from the base to the corner portions of said board, said partitions defining a plurality of sections having random shaped openings therein, the openings all being of different shapes,
' game pieces insertable in each of the openings and conforming to the shapes thereof, posts rising from the base, and a receptacle for the pieces mounted on said posts.
