Another object of. the invention is to provide a swaging die for sharpening the ends of drill swaging die as set forth in the'above mentioned objects having radially movable and adjustable die members capable of being adjusted by the insertion of holding blocks of'various sizes which maybe interchangeably used to position the radially movable die members so as to accorn-. modate drill bits of various shapes and diameters.
Another object of the invention, is to provide a swaging die having radially adjustable die members which are of a predetermined size so 1 that the outer ends will register with graduated markings formed on the base member to insure the proper positioning of the die members for a certain size drill bit. Another object of the invention is to provide a clamping ring for securely holding the radially movable die members in position after they have been adjustedto accommodate a drill bit of a certain size, thereby eliminating the use of a series of fixtures and other holding membersa's has heretofore been used.

' In use, the drill D is first heated to a forging temperature and the hinged blocks iBareswung on their hinge pintles to allow the die member I I to be moved radially as far as possible. The end of the drill D is then inserted so that'the teeth T are in registry with the grooves 8, as is shown of stock having one end heated to a forging temperature so that the metal will flow into conformity with the V-sh'aped grooves 8 and underout beveled edge l3 when a series of blows are struck on the upper end oflthe bar stock by a relatively heavy hammer.
It is to be understood that the form of the in- Vention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred embodiment of the same, andthat various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of thesubjoined claims.
What I claim is:
1. A swaging die, comprising a base having a cruciform groove in its'top wall, die members radially movable in the groove, interchangeable blocks for setting the die members' in a predetermined position and a circular retaining member engaging the die membersjfor anchoring the die members in an adjusted position.
2. A swaging die, comprising a base having a cruciform groove formed in the top wall adapted to conform to the cutting edge of a drill bit, a series of die members movably mounted in the extension of said groove, interchangeable blocks positioned between the ends of the die members and the outer ends of the groove extensions and a retaining member for anchoring the die members inan adjusted position.
3. A swaging die, comprising a base having a cruciform groove of V-shaped cross section adapted to shape and configure the cutting end of a .drill bit, radially movable die members in the arms of said grooves, interchangeable adjusting blocks for said die members and a circular retaining member for anchoring said die members in a predetermined adjusted position.

A swaging die, comprising a base having a drill bit engaging surface to impart a definite contour to the drill bit end, cooperating die members carried by the base having beveled surfaces for imparting a profile to the edges of said drill bit and interchangeable adjusting blocks positioned in back of the cooperating die member to hold the die member in an adjusted position.
7. A swaging die, comprising a base having surfaces adapted to be engaged by a drill bit when heated to a forging temperature to shape and configure said drill bit surfaces to form cutting edges, cooperating die members carried by the base for engaging the outer edges of the drill bit cutting surface, said die members having undercut ends for allowing the metal on the cutting edges of a drill bit to flow therebeneath, size blocks interchangeably positioned between the outer ends of said die member and said base and a retaining ring engaging the upper surfaces of said die members for securing the die members in an adjusted position.
8. A swaging die, comprising a base having a drill bit engaging surface for imparting a definite shape to the end of the drill bit, movable cooperating die members carried by the base adapted to provide a drill bit edge forming surface, interchangeable adjusting blocks for retaining the die members in a preset position and a retaining ring clampingly engaging the top wall of the cooperating die members.
9. A swaging die, comprising a base having a cruciform recess defining radially extending grooves in the top wall thereof providing a cutting tooth shaping portion for drill bits, said grooves being V-shaped in cross-section to impart a definite shape to the cutting teeth, cooperating die members movably mounted in said grooves having beveled inner ends for imparting a definite shape to the outer edges of the
