or changes in either the tractor or the plow.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a hitch of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction. strong, durable, highly emcicnt and reliable in use, compact, and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference des te corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a top plan view, showing a device constructed in accordance with the present invention in use.
Figure 2 is a view in side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the device.
Figure 4 is a view principally in vertical longitudinal section through the device.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that reference character I designates generally the rear portion of a tractor which is equipped with a linkage system 2. The linkage system 2 includes tension and compression links 3 and 4, respectively. Journaled between the free end portions of the tension links 3 is a draw bar 5.
The embodiment of the present invention which has been illustrated comprises an angle iron 3 which is secured on the draw bar 5. Welded, at an intermediate point, on the front of the angle iron 6 is a vertical rod 1 of suitable metal. At its upper end, the rod I terminates in a fork 3 to which the compression link 4 is pivotally connected at 9. Journaled on the lower portion of the rod or shaft I is a sleeve l0. Fixed on the sleeve 10 is a plate ii. A tube I2 is fixed horizontally on the plate ii.
An elongated bolt I3 secures one end portion of a pair of angular arms It to the ends of the tube II. A bushing or bearing 20 is provided in the tube S2 for the bolt 13. Mounted transversely on the other end portions of the arms ll is a tool bar I! to which the beams ii of the disk plow H are connected. The rear wheel guide rod ll of the plow i1 is connected to one end por tion of the angle iron 3 through the medium of an eye bolt is on said angle iron.
It will thus be seen that a construction and arrangement has been provided whereby a plow unit of the character mentioned may be successfully operated in conjunction with a tractor equipped with a linkage system. To attach the device to the tractor it is only necessary to secure the angle iron 6 on the draw bar 5 and connect the compression link 4 to the upper end portion of the rod or shaft 1. The sleeve l0 jour-.
naled on the lower portion of the .vertical rod or shaft I permits swinging movement of the implement in a horizontal plane while the pivotal connection of the arms I to the tube It allows for vertical swinging movement.
It is believed that the many advantages of a hitch constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
1. The combination with a tractor includin a hydraulic implement control comprising tension and compression links and a draw bar extending between the tension links, of a vertical shaft fixed, at an intermediate point, on the draw bar and having its upper end pivotally connected to the compression link, a sleeve journaled on the lower portion of the shaft, arms mounted for swinging movement on said sleeve, and a tool bar mounted on said arms.
2. The combination with a tractor comprising a. hydraulic implement control including tension and compression links and a draw bar mounted between said tension links, of an angle iron mounted on the draw bar, a vertical shaft fixed, at an intermediate point, on said angle iron and having its upper end pivotally connected to the compression link, a sleeve joumaled on the lower portion of the shaft, a tube fixed horizontally on said sleeve, arms mounted for swinging movement on the tube, and a tool bar mounted on said arms.
3. The combination with a tractor comprising a hydraulic implement control including tension links, a compression link and a draw bar extending between said tension links, of an angle iron mounted on the draw bar, a vertical shaft, fixed, at an intermediate point, on said angle iron and having its upper end portion pivotally connected to the compression link, a sleeve Journaled on the lower portion of the shaft, a metallic plate fixed vertically on said sleeve, a horizontal tube fixed on said plate, a pair-of angular arim an elongated bolt securing said arms, at one end, a
