10 Claims. (CI. 35-18) The invention relates generally to demonstra-v tion sets, and more in a variety of arrangements.

In planning the building or remodeling of homes, and especially a modern kitchen equipped with factory built cabinets, it is desirable to show a prospective customer how a completed installation will appear, and this is conveniently done by using small scale or miniature representations oi the walls of a room with small scale models of kitchen equipment arranged along said walls as desired,

In setting up a demonstration it has been necessary to remove the paper-board room and floor members and the cardboard equipment models from the container, lay the container aside, and then set up the wall and door members on a table top or the like. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an improved demonstration set including a novel container box in which the wall and floor members are constructed, arranged and secured in such a way that when the container floor members are supported within the container in proper relationship for receiving and mounting the kitchen equipment models in various arrangements.

Referring first to Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the improved container box is preferably a rectangular or sixsided box of usual appearance, and includes a bottom wall il, side walls 12 and I3, front wall H and rear wall it. A lid i8 is hinged or foldably connected to the top edge of rear wall i as at the fold line l1, and is provided at its other three marginal edges with downturned flanges is for overlapping the side walls i2 and i3 and the front wall it when the box is closed.

The floor member which represents the floor is preferably constructed ofheavy stiff paperboard or cardboard and includs'aportion i9 positioned flat against and secured by adhesive or other means to the inside of rear wall It, as best shown in Fig. 2. The floor member also includes another portion 20 which is hinged or foldably connected to the portion I! at or near the hinge connection ll of the lid, as at the fold line 2|, and the fold line 2| is parallel to the fold line ll of the lid. The portion 20 of the floor member is adapted to fold across the top of the box in closed position within the lid is and may rest on the top of the front wall It as shown in Fig. 2. when the lid-is swung'open through 90 so that it extends in coplanar continuation of the rear wall ii, the floor member portion 20 may be similarly swung open so that it rests on the lid I8 and is in coplanar continuation of the floor member portion i9. Accordingly, if the box is turned as shown in Fig. 3 so that the rear wall I! and lid it rest on a flat supporting surface, the portions [9 and 20 of the floor member form a flat floor when unfolded.

As shown the floor member I8, 20 is preferably provided with a layout of parallel lines intersecting to form squares, and the respective lines are marked with a convenient scale so that a room of proportionate size may be arranged on the floor member.

A wall member for representing two adjoining walls of a room is provided within the container box and preferably consists of two leaves 22 and 23 foldablyconnected or hinged at one edge 25. The leaves of the wall member may be made of heavy stiff paper-board similar to the material of which the floor member is made, and are adapted to be folded fiat abutting and mating with each other when the box is closed as indicated in Fig. 2.

The portion 22 of the wall member is positioned flat against the bottom wall Ii of the box and is secured thereto by adhesive or other means. The rear edge 28 of the wall portion 22 substantially abuts the portion I! of the floor member, so that when the box is opened and the portion 23 of the wall member unfolded or swung towards open position as indicated in Fig. 3, the

26 and 21 of the wall member portions 22 and 22 will lie closelyadjac'ent to the floor member i9, 20.

Thus as shown in Figs. 3 and 5, when the lid of the box is open and the lid and rear wall of the box support the floor member portions it and 20 in flat position, the wall member portion 22 may be swung open to a position at right angles to the wall member portion 22, and the wall member portions 22 and 23 will be at right angles to the floor member. Accordingly, the two walls and floor of a room are represented in proper relation, and the box and door and wall members are tied together to maintain and support the floor and wall members in this desired position.

An additional wall member indicated at 20 is provided for use where it is desired to represent three adjoining walls of a room. The additional wall member 28 is preferably a single sheet of heavy paper-board material similar to the material of which the other wall members and floor member are made, and is adapted to stand on edge on the floor member in open position at right angles to the wall member portion 22 and parallel to the wall member portion 23 as indicated in Fig. 5.

The additional wall member 22 is preferably of substantially the same size as the wall member portions 22 and 22 and consequently fits nicely within the container box in closed position as indicated in Fig. 2. Means for movably supporting the wall member 22 in upright position on the floor member I9, 20 so that the wall member 28 can be moved toward and away from the wall member portion 23 as desired, preferably includes a foldable easel 29 secured to the exterior side of the wall member 28.

As shown in Figs. 4. cludes a front wall 20 adhesively secured to the wall member 22 andhaving side portions 3i foldably connected to its laterally opposite edges.

The side portions 3i are connected by a rear wall 22 which is foldably connected to the side portions 3| at the score lines 22. The rear wall 32 has an upper extension 24 foldably connected thereto at the score line 35, and the upper edge of the extension 34 is provided with spaced notches 36.

The upper edges of the side portions II are provided with under cut ears 31 which are adapted to engage in the notches 38 when the easel is unfolded or expanded to rectangular form, as indicated in Figs. 5 and 5.

As shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the easel 29 may be swung laterally of the wall member 28 and folded flat against the same. and when unfolded to rectangular form with the ears 31 engaged in the notches 38, the bottom of the rear wall member.

The improved demonstration set includes a plurality of equipment models for representing a kitchen sink, refrigerator, stove and a variety of kitchen cupboards or cabinets. These equipment models are preferably foldable cardboard and are printed and scored flat and adapted to be folded to represent three-dimensional cabinets and the like. The equipment models may conveniently be printed and scored on cardboard sheets of a size which will fit easily within the container box, and the outlines of the various models are preferably cut all around except at two or three points so that they may be pushed 'out of the sheets easily when desired.

In Fig.2 a plurality of these cardboard sheets containing various cut out models of kitchen equipment is indicated at 22. and as shown the 5 and 6, the easel 29 insheets may be conveniently stacked within the box on top of the folded wall members 22 and a and the additional wall member 28. I

The foldable cardboard models which represent wall cabinets and are adapted to be mounted along the upper portions oi the wall members are all constructed substantially identical with each other except for their dimensions, and accordingly only one of these-foldable models is illustrated in detail as shown in Figs. 8 and 9. In Fig. 8 the wall cabinet indicated generally at 39 includes a front panel 40 bounded at its side edges by score lines 4| and at its top edge by score line 42. Side panels 43 are hinged to the front panel at the score lines 4| and a top panel 44 is hinged to the front panel at the score line 42.

The side panels 43 have at their top edges foldable tabs 45 in which U-shaped cuts 46 are made, and the top panel 44 has at its side edges tabs 41 which are adapted to be bent downwardly and inserted in the cuts 46 when the tabs 45 are folded dimensional cabinet model.
