Inventor lzla% .Z. 302% Patented Apr. 6, 1943 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SANITARY TOILET COVER Lucille L. Roeder, Chicago, 111.
Application October 28, 1941, Serial No. 416,895
1 Claim.
, This invention relates to new and useful improvements in covers for toilet bowls such as are ordinarily disposed over toilet seats when not in use.
The principal object of this invention is to provide a replaceable covering for seat covers which can be readily taken off and cleaned or replaced as the need demands.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following description.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 represents a bottom plan view of the covering.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the covering disposed on a seat cover.
Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 denotes a toilet cover which is usually constructed of wood and has hinge arms 6 extending therefrom. Numeral 1 generally refers to the covering for this toilet cover 5 and it is preferable that this cover be constructed of a sheet 8 of Celluloid or some similar material which has some yieldability and which .is also ductile in nature.
This sheet 8 is formed to provide a flat top surface for disposition on the cover 5 and side and end walls 9 disposed downwardly for embracing the side and end =portions of the cover 5. Inwardly disposed tabs Ill are provided at the lower edge of the walls! and these are adapted to be set inwardly so as to embrace the underside of the cover 5. Obviously one or two of these tabs can be pulled outwardly to release the covering 1 whenever the need for cleaning or replacing the same becomes necessary.
It is preferable that the material of the sheet 8 be of Celluloid or some other similar material which can be easily washed off with water or a suitable cleaner. Obviously this covering may be of any color and design desired.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is: t
A cover for a toilet lid comprising a solid sheet of material adapted to conform with the curvature of a toilet lid and provided with depending side walls to embrace the side walls of a toilet lid, the lower edge of the walls being provided with inwardly disposed tabs for embracing the bottom side of a toilet lid, said sheet and tabs being of integral construction and of a flexible material, whereby the cover may be conformably fitted over a worn uneven lid and the tabs may be manipulated toward and from the bottom of the lid to facilitate attachment of the cover to said lid and detachment therefrom.
