1 Claim.

This invention relates to a drawer pull and it is primarily an object of the invention to provide a device of this kind which does not require the use of any metal hardware and which at the same time is strong and positive in its use.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind which has associated therewith a rounded wedge, said wedge coacting with the pull in a manner whereby the weight of the wedge itself tends at all times to maintain a tight mounting for the pull.

The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved drawer pull whereby certain important advantages are attained, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order that my invention may be better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Figure 1 is a view in perspective illustrating a drawer pull constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention and in applied position.

Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional view taken substantially on the line 2---2A of Figure 1, the pull being shown in top plan.

Figure 3 is a detail sectional view taken substantially on the line 3 3 of Figure 2, the wedge being shown in elevation, and

Figure 4 is a view in elevation of the wedge member viewed from the rounded face and unapplied.

As disclosed in the accompanying drawing, D denotes a conventional type of drawer, wherein the front wall or plate l of the drawer at substantially the center thereof is provided with an elongated slot 2 and the end walls 3 of which are inwardly or rearwardly inclined, such inclination, as particularly illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawing, being on an angle of 45 degrees.

The pull P is preferably made of wood and comprises an elongated and narrow plate 4 of a length in excess of the distance between the forward divergent `extremities of the end walls e 3 of the slot 2, with the rear margin of the plate 4 at its extremities formed to provide` the aligned straight edges 5 which constitute shoulders for direct contact with the outer face of the front wall or plate l. This plateA 4 has its central portion cut out, as at 6, said cut-out portion being of a size to allow the plate 4 to be readily and effectively grasped by a hand for manipulating the drawer D with which the pull P is employed.

The rear marginal portion of the plate 4 is provided with the outwardly extending plate extension 1 coplanar with the plate 4. The end edges 8 of this plate extension l converge in a direction away from the plate 4, the angle of convergence being substantially the same as the angle of the end walls 3 of the slot 2, so that the edges 8 immediately adjacent the plate 4 may have close contact with said end walls 3. The plate extension 'l at its major length, or at its point immediately adjacent the plate 4, is coextensive in length with the outer or major length of the slot 2 and the shoulders 5 hereinbefore referred to are outwardly of but immediately adjacent to this plate extension 1.

The central portion of the plate extension l is provided therethrough with a relatively large opening 9, herein disclosed as circular in form, and the plate extension 'l is of such dimension with respect to the thickness of the front wall or plate I of the drawer D to have substantially one-half of the opening 9 disposed inwardly beyond the inner face of the front wall or plate l when. the pull P is applied and the shoulders 5 of the plate 4 are in contact with the outer face of the front wall or plate l.

After the pull P has been properly applied or, in other words, the plate extension 'I has been inserted through the opening 2, a wedge member M is inserted from above through the eX- tended or projected portion of the opening 9. As is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing,- this wedge member is substantially semi-circular in form and has a straight edge or face lil for direct contact with the inner face of the front wall or plate I and with its outer face Il rounded from one end to the other.

This wedge member M, as clearly illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawing, is tapered from its upper end towards its lower end so that as the Wedge member M is applied through the extended portion of the opening 3, the pull P will be tightly held in place with respect to the front wall or plate l. This tight tting of the pull P may be readily effected by tapping upon the upper or larger end of the wedge member M, and which results in obtaining a positive lock for the pull P.

By having the wedge member M provided with the rounded face Il, the pull P will at no time loosen as the wedge member M by its own weight will have a tendency to tighten itself at all times.

This action of the wedge member M is further I0 is not tapered and by having all of the taper of the Wedge M comprised in the rounded face I l.

From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a drawer pull constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated.

What I claim is:

In combination with the front Wall of a drawer having a slot therethrough with the end walls of the slot inclined inwardly and rearwardly, a pull having a rear plate extension for insertion from without through the slot of the wall, the ends of the plate extension being inclined similar facilitated in view of the fact that the ilat face to the inclined ends of the slot, the pull extending beyond the ends of the plate extension whereby shoulders are provided for contact with the outer face of the front Wall, an opening in the central portion of the plate extension, said opening being so positioned as to project beyond the inner face of the front Wall when the plate extension is inserted through the slot and the shoulders of the pull are in contact with the front wall, and a wedge member insertable from above through the projected portion of the opening in the plate extension, said Wedge member having a flat face for direct contact with the inner face of the front Wall.
