1 Claim.
This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in footwear, the same having as its principal object the provision of a shoe which can he applied or removed in an easy and convenient manner.
Another important object of the invention is to provide an improved shoe which can be opened along the back of the upper through the use of a multiple fastener, thus dispensing with the time consuming use of shoe strings.
- Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a side elevational view of the improved shoe.
Figure 2 is a top plan view.
Figure 3 is a rear elevation with parts broken away.
Figure 4 is an enlarged fragmentary side elevational view of the rear portion of a shoe with a portion broken away to disclose the improved counter.
Figure 5 is a fragmentary detailed sectional view taken substantially on the line H of Figure 2.
Figure 6 is a fragmentary rear elevational 'view of the improved counter with the shoe I upper removed. 7
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 denotes a shoe upper to which is secured a sole .6 and a heel V'l.
In carrying out the present invention, in-\ stead of having the usual rear seam connecting the side halves of the upper, the edges of the side halves are connectible by a multiple fastener 8 immediately iromthe heel I to the upper edge of the shoe upper.
In order to accommodate the multiple fastener 8 an improved counter structure is employed. In this connection the counter does not extend across the rear of the shoe but is in the form of a pair of- upstanding wings 9, 9,
the rear edge portions of which are beveled as derstood that numerous changes in the shape,.
size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
A shoe comprising an upper vertically slit in the rear thereof from the heel up, a slide fastener for connecting the edge portions of the upper adjacent said slit, and a pair ofseparate counter members on opposite sides of the heel,
respectively, providing a space between the rear edges thereof for the insertion of a foot forwardly in the shoe, said counters being skived along their rear and bottom edges to reduce the thickness of said edges above the sole and provide for easy flexing of the counters when the foot is inserted forwardly therebetween.
