My invention relates to a shipping and display package for candy suckers.

An object of my invention is to provide a package in which candy suckers may be placed and held in adjusted position for purposes, first of shipping, and later for display and sale.

A further object is to provide a shipping package for candy suckers which will securely position the "suckers and thereby minimize the danger of chipping and/or breaking the suckers, or their sticking together during shipment.

A further object of my invention is to provide a reversible display package from which first one portion or layer of the goods therein may be displayed and sold, and later the package may be reversed and the remaining goods may be displayed and sold.

A further object is to provide a package having top and bottom removable covers spaced apart by an interposed band.

Another object is to provide a box having an intermediate shelf or partition adapted to space apart candy suckers and hold them in adjusted position for display and sale purposes.

The box or package consists of four entirely separable "telescopic parts, namely, a side wall band 2, a shelf or partition 4, a top cover 6, and a bottom cover 8. The shelf or partition 4 is provided with a plurality of apertures Ill which are aligned longitudinally and laterally of the partition 4, and into which the sticks l2 of the suckers l4 may be inserted and held in adjusted position.

In loading the package with suckers the partition 4 is placed in a convenient position and the sticks I2 of the suckers l4 are inserted into the apertures l0, using the lines of apertures along the outer edges of the partition 4 and every alternate line therefrom. When this is done the suckers will be in the position shown in Fig. 4.

After this layer of suckers (to become the second layer) is positioned, the partition 4 is turned over and the remaining apertures H] are filled. When this has been done, the suckers l4 will appear as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

With all of the suckers l4 aligned properly with their sticks l2 inserted into the apertures ill in the partition 4, the side wall band 2 is placed around the partition 4, and the top cover 6 and the bottom cover 8 are positioned over the open ends of the side wall band, thus making a completely packed box or package, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

The covers 6 and 8 are secured to the side wall band 2 by any suitable means such as gummed tape (not shown). The cover 6 is preferably provided with some suitable indicia to indicate that it is the top and is to be removed first,

After the cover 6 has been removed, the suckers may be placed on display and ready for sale. As the suckers are sold, they may be removed by merely pulling out the selected sucker, the stick l2 being easily removable from its aperture l0.

When all of the suckers l4 have been removed from the top layer, the package may be turned over or reversed, and then the bottom cover 8 will become a top cover and may be taken off. After this has been done, the side wall band 2 is removed and disposed of. Preferably the cover 8, or 6, if retained, is placed around the bottom edges of the partition 4 so that the partition will be laterally supported and will not collapse or flatten out from the weight of the suckers, but will stand upright and properly display the goods in an easily accessible position.

By thus packaging candy suckers they will be securely held in their adjusted positions and thereby the loss from chipping, breakage and sticking, etc., will be reduced to a minimum during shipment and handling. The package when received by the retailer will be ready for immediate use as a display and sales package.

It will be understood that the candy suckers will be properly wrapped in any suitable sanitary covering material, preferably a transparent material such as Cellophane. It also will be understood that the suckers will not only be positioned as described above, but that they may be arranged in any suitable rows or other designs made up of colors and/or flavors.

I claim:

A shipping and display package including four independent parts of corresponding shape, two of which fit the two intermediate members and constitute removable top and bottom covers whereby a portion of the contents of the package may be displayed and removed by removing the uppermost cover, and the remaining portion of the contents of the package displayed and removed from the package by first inverting the package and thereupon removing the then uppermost cover, one of the intermediate members in the form of a rim of a size and shape to fit the removable top and bottom covers and the other intermediate member flanged at the edges.
