This invention relatesto a razor adapted to prevent blade rust. Among the objects of my invention is'to construct a razor of the safety type so that when the razor is not in closed operating position, that blades will be spaced from contact with the head and guard, Another object is to provide automatic resilient means which will move the blade away from contact with the head and guard when the razor is in openrposition and recesses for housing the resilient means when the razor is in closed shaving position. My invention also contemplates such other objects, advantages and capabilities as will later more fully appear and which are inherently possessed by my invention.
While I have shown in the accompanying drawing a preferred form Yof my invention, yet I desire it understood that the same is susceptible of modification and change Without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Referring to the drawing, Fig. 1 is a top plan view of my razor; Fig. 2 is aside elevation of the same in closed position and Fig. 3 is a detailed sectional view on line 3--3 of Fig. l'of the same in open position,
Referring now more particularly to the embodiment selected to illustrate my invention, it comprises a head Il! having a dependingV screw threaded shank II, a guard I2 having an opening I3 adapted to receive shank II when the razor is assembled, and handle I4 having a screw threaded aperture I5 adapted to engage' the screw threads of shank II.
A resilient member or spring Iii is preferably centrally attached to the inner portion I1 of the head IIJ. A recess I8 is also provided in the bulge El) of the inner portion Il to accommodate resilient member I6.
Another resilient member I5 is preferably centrally attached to the inner portion 2D of guard I2. A recess 2l is also provided in well 6I of the inner portion 2U to accommodate resilient member I9. In use, when a blade 22 is placed between head IIl and guard I2 and the handle I4 is turned until the blade 22 is contacting the head II) with one of its surfaces and the guard I2 with its other surface, resilient member I6 is moved into recess I8 and resilient member IS is moved into recess 2l. The recesses thus accommodate the springs and permit normal closing of the razor for shaving purposes.
After the shaving operation is over, the razor is, of course, wet. If the razor is left in closed position, water willbe held between the blade and the head on one side and the guard on the greatly increased.

When the ordinary razor is loosened, the blade moves against either the head or the blade and the rusting by wet contact continues.
The only way to prevent this with the ordinary razor is to disassemble the head, guard, blade and handle and drylwith a cloth. This is annoying and dangerous.
With my razor, disassembly and drying with a cloth after shaving are unnecesary The handle is slightly turned so that spring I5 automatically moving inwardly from recess I8 in head- Illpushes n the blade 22 away from contact with the head I0. At the same time spring I9 automatically moving inwardly from the recess 2I in guard I2 pushes the blade 22 away from contact with the guard I2, Thus the blade is spaced from Contact with either head lil, or guard I2. No water can be held suspended between the parts for rusting the blade. Evaporation will dry the blade 22 before there is rust. If the blade is rinsed in hot water and excess water shaken off, the drying will be almost immediate. The life of blades and their maximum shaving efficiency is Having thus described my invention, I claim:
A razor comprising a head having a depending screw threaded shank, a guard having an opening to permit said shank to pass therethrough, said head and said guard adapted to hold a blade therebetween, a handle having a` screw threaded aperture to engage said screw threaded shank, so that upon said handle being turned in one direction said guard is moved into closed shaving position against said blade and upon said handle being turned in the opposite direction said guard is moved away from said head, said Vhead having on its inner portion a centrally disposed recess, a spring attached to said head within said recess, said guard having on its inner portion a centrally disposed recess, a spring attached to said guard within said recess and positioned opposite to the spring in the recess of said head. said springs directly contacting opposite sides of the blade, said springs of substantially similar size andv normally extending outwardly from their respective recesses and toward each other, said springs adapted to be compressed by said head and said `guard upon the handle being turned in one direction to move said head and said guard into closed shaving position, said recesses of sufficient size to accommodate their respective compressed springs and permit said head and said guard to contact the blade, said springs adapted upon said handle being turned in the opposite direction to move said guard and said head away from closed shaving position, to exert substantially similar pressure on the respective opposite lsides of the blade to move the blade away from contact with said head and said guard, and to maintain the blade in spaced position between said head and said guard, the edges of said blade remaining flat and unflexed at all times by said springs,
