Description

c. TRABING CHRISTMAS TREE HOLDER Get. 20, 1942.
Filed Dec. 8, 1941 Patented Oct. 20, 1942 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CHRISTMAS TREE HOLDER Christian Trabing, Baltimore, Md.
Application December 8, 1941, Serial No. 422,053
1 Claim.
This invention relates to improvements in tree holders and is especially adapted for holding Christmas trees. The object of the invention is to provide a holder having a plurality of legs secured together by bowed springs that will yield sufficiently to allow trees of varying diameters to be held by the holder.
The invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of parts and combination of parts hereinafter more fully set forth in the following specification and pointed out in detail in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is an elevation of the holder in the extended position and showing a tre held therein.
Figure 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a view showing the legs in the folded position when not in use.
Referring to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout the several views, I designates the legs which may be of wood or metal and which are connected by the bowed springs 2 held to the legs by the bolts 3 which permit the legs to be folded or extended. The inner end of the legs are cut on an angle to fit snugly against the tree, and the lower ends of the legs are cut on an angle, as at 4, to allow the holder to rest evenly on the floor, the outer ends of the legs I are provided with vertical apertures 5 through which screws or nails may be inserted if it is desired to secure the holder to the floor, or to a platform.
In using the holder the lower end of the tree 6 is placed between the inner ends of the legs I and the latter forced down causing the legs to grip the tree securely, owing to the bowed springs 2, as shown in Figure 1 of the drawing. These bowed springs 2 will yield sufliciently to permit the holder to be used for holding trees varying slightly in diameter.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A tree holder comprising a plurality of legs each having its inner end cut on an angle to fit snugly against a tree, and their outer ends cut on an angle to rest evenly on a floor, the outer end of the legs being provided with vertical apertures, bowed springs yieldingly connecting the inner ends of said legs, and bolts to hold the bowed springs to the said legs and on which the legs move.
