An object of the invention is to provide a frame of very simple design having enough rigidity in all directions.
Another object of my invention is to provide a frame of the kind indicated, practically all parts of which are located at one side and at the edges of the pane with practically no parts of said frame projecting beyond the other surface of the pane.
A further object of the present invention is to provide framing means of the type indicated including a clip means for holding the pane to the frame, said clip means covering the edge of the pane and a part of both sides thereof.
Still another object of my invention is toprovide means for fastening said clip means securely and removably to the frame structure.
An embodiment of my present invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing which shows a partial sectional view thereof.
In the embodiment shown in the drawing, my invention is applied to a window structure having two coupled sashes A, B. In the particular case shown the sash A is made of wood and provided with a longitudinal projection, or flange, I covering the entire peripheral surface of the smaller sash B which is preferably a metal sash.
The sash B comprises a portion 2 extending along the surface of the pane C parallelly therewith. At one edge, said portion 2 of sash B is provided with a flange 3 projecting perpendicularly to said portion 2 and covering the edge of the pane C or part of the width thereof. In some cases said flange 3 may project somewhat beyond the edge of the pane C, as shown, but then said projecting part is very narrow.
At the other edge said portion 2 of the sash B is provided with another flange 4 the extension of which is bent back, as shown at 5, so as to form a hollow space 6 between said flange 4 and. its extension 5. Said extension does not eX- tend entirely to the portion 2 but there is formed a slot 1 between the surface of said portion 2 and the end of said extension 5, as shown in the drawing.
The clip means D for holding the pane position channel profile, one leg of which 8 is in engagement with the pane, while the other leg 9 is in engagement with the portion 2 of the sash B. Said two legs 8, 9 are connected by the part l0.

Preferably, the clip means D is made of spring in the sash B comprises substantially a 1 steel, and the leg 9 is provided with a hook-like member H which, when forced through the slot 1 into the space 6, keeps the clip means D in place.
It should be noted that, although not used in that way in the embodiment actually shown, the part 9 of the fastening element D can in some cases be utilized as an abutment surface and for tightening purposes.
It should be evident, too, that the frame ac cording to the invention is well heat insulating, since no parts of the main supporting element extend entirely through from one side to the other. In order further to increase the heat insulating effect the fastening element D could be made of an insulating material, such as a compound of artificial resin, etc.
If the sash B is to be provided with hardware, such as hinges, coupling latches, etc, at the portions 2 or 3, corresponding parts of the clip means D will, of course, have to be cut away.
The fastening element D can be removed by utilizing the resiliency of the part 9 of said fastening element D. This applies to such embodiments in which the part II is narrow enough to pass through the slot 1, when the part 9 is forced towards the portion 2.
In some other cases it is preferable to remove said fastening element D in another way, viz, by pulling it out lengthwise. This can easily be done, if only a small opening is provided in the members 5 at the corner of the frame in order to permit the passage therethrough of the member ll. Due to the resiliency of the fastening element D it can then. be pulled out over the end part of the corresponding element D of the other supporting element B forming the corner.
Furthermore, it may be mentioned that often it is not necessary to make any provisions at all for the removal of the element D because its cost is so low that it can be replaced by a new one each time the pane is to be removed.
It should be evident that the embodiment of my invention illustrated in the drawing and described above is only for the purpose of explanation and not in any way intended to limit the scope of the invention, since numerous modifications are feasible without departing from the spirit thereof. Thus, for instance, the slot 1 may be dispensed with, the extension 5 being integral with the portion 2 at that point, as would preferably be the case when using extruded shapes. In that case it would, however, be easy to make a special rib, also integral with the rest of the sash B, for the hook-like portion H to engage. Of course, the shapes of the different members involved can be varied within wide limits in other respects, too.
What I claim is:
1. In a frame structure for carrying a sheet of material, a supporting element extending along one surface of said sheet adjacent the edge thereof, a flange on said supporting element extending along the edge face of the sheet of such a width as to extend approximately to the plane of the opposite surface of the sheet, means carried by the surface of the supporting element opposite the sheet and having a portion spaced from said supporting element to provide a slot-.
like recess having a restricted opening between said portion and the surface of the supporting element opposite the sheet, a channel-shaped fastening strip embracing the sheet and supporting element, and an enlarged bead on the edge of the leg of the fastening strip adjacent the supporting element and having a resilient poring its free edge extending back toward the supporting element in spaced relation thereto to provide a. slot, a channel-shaped fastening strip embracing the sheet and supporting element, and abead carried by the edge of one leg of the fastening strip and having a resilient portion engaging one of the slot-forming elements.
