This invention relates to gas ranges. A primary object of the invention is the provision of a gas table top comprising al liftable broiler burner section and a plurality of rotatable cooking burner sections which are capable of being selectively positioned for providing with the broiler burner section a plane table top or for cooking upon one or more of the cooking burners.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a gas range comprising a tubular frame having an oven centrally suspended therefrom, a

The frame F supports the combinedvcooking and table top T to the rear of which is disposed the usual splasher back S and `below which and an oven O. 'I'he combined cooking and table top T comprises va plurality (preferably three) of cookingV I3 which are pivotaily mounted coaxially with the gas supply conduit as indicated at I4 in Figs. 2 and 3. l
The sections I3 each embody a plane surface I5 and a burner I6 whereby a plane working top is provided when the sections are rotated to the position illustrated and whereby upon rotation of one or more of the sections through an angie of the burner or burners I6 are positioned for cooking purposes. l
The table top T further comprises ilxed lateral sections I'l through the front of one of which projects the broiler and oven gas burner control valve handles H, and through the front of the other of which projects the cookingburner ccntrol valve handles H.
The combined cooking and table-top T is completed by a broiler burner section Il which comprises a plane top I9, an integral lbroiler burner 20 and a front panel 2| rigid with the top I3 and provided with a lifting handle 22.

gas supply `connection as indicated at 23 in the trated in Flg.'1, one or more of the cooking secbrl preferably comprises a tubular I8 permits access to the broiler compartment for removing the pan P or for adjusting same in the horizontal racks 26 without in anyway inter-- fering with the oven door 24. Furthermore, the oven door N is free to be opened or closed when the broiler burner section IB is in closed or operative position.
' The broiler burner section I3 is preferably provided with a removable grid or lid 21 whereby upon removal of same the burner 20 may be l utilized for cooking purposes.
In Fig'. 4 is illustrated a preferred means for pivotally supporting the broiler burner section I3 as well as an improved means 'for conducting gas to the burner.
As shown in this figure, the pivotal connection 23 preferably comprises an adaptor casting 30 at each side of section I8 (only one of which is illustrated), and which castings are each provided with an extension or spud 3l in an orice 32 in the rear of section I8, the opposite extensions being in alinement for pivotally supporting -said section for vertical swinging movement.
Gas is 'conducted to the burner 2U as well as to the cooking burner I6 preferably by utilizing the hollow tubular frame partially as gas conducting means and as indicated in.Fig. 4 the oven and broiler burner control valves 33 and 3l respectively are in communication with the adjacent frame 1 end I0 as a gas conduit, the valves controlled by handles H being of course in like communication with the `opposite frame end I in a manner well understood.` Y,
As indicated in Fig. 4, the valve 3l communicates with a gas line 35 which at its opposite end communicates with extension or spud 3| (which of course is tubular) through the casting-30, and

The pilot is of course intended to be constantly burning as a result of whichthe burner 2U will be` yautomatically lit upon opening valve 3l and placing the burner in a horizontal position as shown.
As is more readily apparent from Fig. 4, `the burner 20 is in fact a giant burner due to its position underneath the plate section I8 whereby it serves for broiling and due also to its encircling relation to the opening normally closed 'by lid` 21 it further serves for` -cooking upon placing vessels on the section I9 subsequent to the removal of the lid 21.

In Fig. 4a is further illustrated a safety gas lcontrol means and which may-ormay not be used with the particular broiler'top lconstruction disclosed. As indicated, the control comprises a lateral contact extension 38 having a. safety valve 33 therein, the valve 39 is operable by a plunger I0 controllable by a bimetal thermostat 4I.
A pilot tube 42 having a control valve 43 car ries a pilot nozzle 4l in a position' such that the pilot flame will play upon the thermostat Il and open the valve 39 and thus permit gas to pass to t the burner 20 through line 35, casting 3l), spud 3i and'mixer 35.
The thermostat 4i isofcourse so positioned that `the pilot flame will ignite the gas flowing y from the burner 2li.
