The chief purpose of this invention is toprovide a more secure and suitable means for positioning and supporting a paper receptacle on said mixing devices and to facilitate the removal of said receptacle therefrom after the mixing operation is completed. More especially the purpose of the invention isto provide such means adapted to handle one-piece paper cups and the like receptacles which heretofore have been incapable of practical use on known devices.
The invention consists in the novel features,.
arrangements and combination of parts embodied by way of example in the apparatus hereinafter form of the invention, and the invention will be more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to the drawings, and more particularly to Fig. 1; the numeral l designates a standard serving as a-supporting pedestal for the device and'carrying fixed adjacent its upper end an electrical motor 2 to the armature of which is carried a depending mixing arm or device 3 adapted -to be rotated upon actuation of the motor 2. The motor is preferabl provided with a two-speed switch l and is supplied with current by the usual plug-in cord (not shown) through which electrical current is supplied to the motor described as illustrating the present preferred under control'of a suitable electrical switch designated by reference to its movable portion 5 (Figs. '3, 4 and 6).' The standard I, motor 2, mixing'arm 3 and switches 4 and" 5 represent a general structure well known in the art and not claimed per se as my invention.

The lower plate 6' (Figs. 1 and 4) extends from the right outwardly beyond the track I and carries rigidly secured thereto the lower end of a spring arm 20 which extends upwardly and whose outer end is offset and constructed and arranged to provide a detent portion having an upper supporting portion 2| and a downwardly and-inclined face 22, the detent passing through a slot formed in the track member 1 and being positioned and arranged so that the portion 2| comes into'supporting engagement with a lug 23 carried on the carriage plate 8 when the carriage is in raised position (Fig. 5), to bring the receptacle into the dotted position indicated in Fig. 2; and when the detent is moved rearwardl-yto withdraw it from the lug 23 to permit the carriage to move downwardly. A bracket 24 is rigidly secured to the arm 20 and carries on its outer surface an engageable plate 25 disposed adjacent the carriage plate 8 and in such position as to be readily engageable by the hand of the operator which is used in grasping the receptacle to remove it from th mixing apparatus. To further facilitate the ready engagement of the plate 25 it is inclined outwardly and upwardly (Fig. 5). A stop 26 is provided for limiting the rearward movement of the arm'20 and detent 2|.

What I claim is:
1. In a liquid mixing apparatus having a standard, a motor, a downwardly extending mixing arm rotatable by said motor and a switch for actuating said motor, the combination of a vertically movable carriage mounted on said standard for movement relative thereto and providing a bottom support having a, back and a seat constructed and arranged toprovide a lat eral and vertical support for a receptacle bottom and said carriage also providing a hook for removable engagement with the top of said receptacle, an abutment portion carried on said car riage and constructed and arranged to move into actuating engagement with said switch upon the upward movement of said carriage, mechanism apart from said abutment for locking said carriage in upward position and provided with a release positioned adjacent said receptacle position for engagement by the hand of the operator used 2. In a liquid mixing apparatus having a standard, a motor, a downwardly extending mixing arm rotatable by said motor and a switch for actuating said motor, the combination'of a carriage for holding a receptacle and'providing a bottom support and vertically spaced lateral supportsfor the respective bottom and top portions of said receptacle, a vertically extending track secured to said'stan'dard, said carriage being mounted on said track 'for vertical movement the mixing has been completed, the operator with one movement of his hand presses against the plate 25 and grasps the cup ii, the carriage is permitted to freely move downwardly and the bottom of the cup is moved outwardly and then.

5. In a liquid mixing apparatus having a standard, a motor, a downwardly extending mixing arm rotatable-by said motor and a switch for' actuatis in lowered position,-releasable mechanism apart from said switch actuating means for holding said carriage in said raised position.
