Description

(N0 Mattel.)
B. R. MGOALL. Plow Attachment.
WlT NESSE-S UNITE STATES PATENT OmncE.
EDWIN R. MGGALL, OF LOOKPORT, NEW YORK.
PLOW A TTAQ H M ENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters PatentNo. 228,916, dated June 15, 1880.
Application filed April 12, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN B. MOOALL, of Lockport, in the county of Niagara and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plow Attachments and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying; drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in plow attachments; and it consists in the clevis A, the standard B, and draft-hook O, and in the combination and arrangement of the parts, as hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a sectional elevation of the drafthook.
A represents a clevis, having the longitudinal plates to a, which are fitted upon the upper and lower side of the plow-beam a, and
the vertical shoulder j, which unites the said plates and the disks b b, which latter are provided with the vertical apertures a, shaped for reception of the standard.
B marks a partly-hollow vertical standard, having its hearings on the axle b of the wheel D, it being solid and flattened from the top of the periphery of the wheel to the axle thereof. It is also provided with the-horizontal teeth (I and horizontal orifices c. It is adapted, withits teeth, to be inserted into the vertical slots in the disks b b, and when therein inserted and turned round a h alt revolution the respective disks of the clevis A are retained in position (No model.)
by the teethv d, as shown, and jolting of the beam thus prevented.
The draft hook U is provided with the shoulder or recess h, which' is adapted to receive one of the teeth d, and in connection with its orifices c c for reception of the bolt 61, the standard B and wheel D being thus rendered readily and quickly adjustable to the line of the draft, as the hook O is thus rigidly secured to the standard. This construction also causes the direction of the plow-beam to be quickly adjusted to the line of the draft hook, whereby the intended purpose is accomplished economically and with facility.
The standard B, although constructed tubular, and being partly flattened at the lower part thereof, as aforesaid, a grooved or fluted standard may be employed with equal facility and with results alike beneficial.
What I claim is- 1. The combination of the standard B, hav in g teeth d, adjustable in connection with disks 1) I), and hooks O, with recess It for reception of teeth (I, substantially as shown, and for the purpose described.
2. The combination of the standard B, with orifices c, teeth (Z, disks 1) b, with apertures a, shaped for reception of standard, and hook O, with shoulderfor reception of a standard-tooth, substantially as shown, and for the purpose described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EDWIN R. MOOALL.
Witnesses FRANK BALOOM, LAFAYETTE BALOOM.
