More particularly, the invention has for its object to provide means for feeding paper pulp and the like to the sieve of a paper making machine, cell de-watering machine,.and the like.
and has for its object to bring about a far reaching regulation of the stock inlet jet while discharging. upon the sieve, in respect to direction and position of the impingement of the stock inlet jet. Thisis accomplished in the embodiment shown by the regulation of the breast roll and the table roll parts with stationary stock inlet casings.
In the use of long sieve paper machines as also in tie-watering machines for half and whole stocks of the paper industry it is known, to
bring the stock upon the sieve by means of an exit nozzle formed of an upper and lower lip,
whereby the discharge velocity of the stock is approximately equal to the velocity of the sieve. In this known structure, the height of the stock in the stock casing varies with the change in the working velocity and, in consequence, with the sieve velocity. Also, the distance between the upper and lower lips of the outlet nozzle is varied with changes in the thickness of the stock and in the viscosity thereof.
However, such-changes in the stock flow and in the distance between the upper and lower lips, did not remove allof the disadvantages inherent in the knownstructures.

Referring to thedrawings, and more particularly to Figures 1', 2, and 3. 1
In the stock inlet casing A, the stock therein collected passes through the distributing roll B, as shown in Figure 1, or between plates 0, as shown in Figure 3, into the nozzle D. This nozzle D consists of a fixed underlip d and movable upperlip d, which is'adjustable .so as to increase or decreasethe nozzle discharge opening. The stock discharged by the nozzle passes upon the sieve E, which passes around thegbreast roll F, These parts are known.
The improvement consists in roviding means to control the position of the reast roll F in respect to the flxedstock inlet casing A. The
' regulation of the breast roll is brought about Other proposals were made to solve these difflculties, but they did not meet with success.
The invention overcomes these objections, and consists in the regulation of breast roll alone or in connection with the table or table rolls, that is, the front'part of the table, in horizontal or vertical or both directions; it is possible to control the direction of the stock stream, and also the position of the same upon the sieve, in accordance with demands of the operation of the plant.

Figure 2 is a view taken at right angles to that of Figure 1, of the same structure as shown in by the adjustable device J, which permits the breast roll F'to be raised or lowered whereby the height in vertical direction is controlled.
The breast roll may also be controlled in a horizontal-direction toward and away from the casing A, and this is accomplished by the sliding guide device K arranged in the baseL.
As by the control of the breast roll F, inthe embodiments shown in Figures 1 to 3, a considerable strain is placed upon the sieve E, the first table roll G is made'larger than the other table rolls and is given a large diameter. The large table roll G is also controllable in respect to vertical and horizontal positions, by suitable means shown in Fig. 9. A roll H for tensioning the sieve E is also provided; and the'table r011 G'and the tension roll H serve for adjusting and supporting the sieve. These rolls also act in a compensatory manner, during the regulation of the breast roll.
In the embodiments of Figures 4 and 5 the table F can also, be controlled by the table, rollbar G the rolls F and the bar G consti-f tuting-the known table, that is, in cooperation with the control of the breast roll. By the operation of the adjusting device J, the table F may be vertically raised or lowered, and by the operation of the slide in the guide K in the base L, the table F may be horizontally controlled toward or away from the casing A. The movement of the breast roll and the table F in vertical direction can be achieved by the worm spindle which passes through the same, or by means of a hand actuation of the device J. By a displacement of the standard M, it here is possible to bring about a movement from the breast roll F, in respect to the discharge openin'g of the nozzle D. In case the sieve parts have a divided table, the front part of the table is controlled as described.
Figs. 6, '1, and a. show the adjusting device for the design as shown in Figs. 1 to 5. In Figs. 6 and 7 the crosswise worm shaft N is shown. Worm shaft N actuates through a worm gear O, adjusting device J; 1 In Fig. 8, adjustment is made by means of a crossshaft P. This cross shaft P drives over a gear set Q, adjusting spindle J.
Figure 9 shows the possibility of adjusting the roll G horizontally and vertically. In a dovetailed guide S of bearing support R the slide carriage is operated which at its upper end, in
a clamping device I], carries roll-G. The adjustment of the slide carriage T in horizontal direction, is effected by a hand wheel. This hand wheel turns a spindle V along which moves a square nut held between the walls of the slide carriage which causes the latter to move in horizontal direction. The vertical movement of roll G is effected by disengaging clamping device U.
The invention is, of course, not alone applicable to paper making machines or the like, but

In a high speed paper making machine, having a breast roll and 'a sieve passing over the same, the combination of a stationary open stock inlet with a nozzle fixed thereto at its lowermost end in which the lower lip is stationary and the upper lip is movable pivotally, the stock jet being nevertheless at a constant inclination to the horizontaLmeans for moving the breast roll vertically or horizontally independently away "roll in respect to the stock jet, in its forward tween the largest table roll and the breast roll,
whereby either the breast roll. or larger table roll or both, will adjust the sieve in respect to the stock jet for preventing the piling up or cascading of the stock on the sieve.
3. In a high speed paper making machine,
' having a breast roll and a sieve passing over the same, the combination of a stationary open stock inlet with a nozzle fixed thereto at its low- 'ermost end in which the lower lip is stationary and they upper lip is movable p'ivotally, the stock jet being nevertheless at a constant inclination to the horizontal, means for moving the breast r roll vertically or horizontally independently away from and towards said stock jet for inclining the sieve immediately after passing over the breast. roll in respect to the stock jet, in its forward movement, table rolls, a divided table bar for said table rolls, and the front end of the table bar is moved with the breast roll, and a supporting roll resting against the lower part of the sieve during its return movement for tensioning the sieve, depending upon the amount of the aforesaid change in the inclination of the sieve,
