5 claims. (C1. 294-55) The present invention relates to new and use- `ful improvements in tobacco leaf hangers andV has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a deviceof this' character which is adapted` to be expeditiousllr mounted on either or bothsides of a tobacco stick .and which includes novel means for receiving l and securely holding the bottom` leaves which have been removed from the stalks.
`Other obiectsof the invention areto provide a tobacco leaf hanger of the aforementioned characterfwhich will be comparatively simple in (construction, strong, durable, highly efcient and reliable in use, compact, light in weight and e which may bemanufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects 'r ,and advantages of the` invention will become ap- I parentfrom `a study` of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompany- Y ing drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding `parts throughout the several viewsand wherein: e Figure l is an` elevational view of theinven- Figure 2 is a top `plan view thereof.
sheet metal. Struckv from` one of the longitudinal marginal portions of the bar 9 is a series of spaced, angular resilient clips I 0. The clips lo terminate in outturned free end portions II lwhichfacilitate the insertion of the stems of the tobacco leaves beneath said clips. The bar 9 may be mounted on a suitable supporting means and the clips l coact with said bar for gripping and retaining'the leaf stems.
It is believed that the many advantages of a tobacco leaf hanger `constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood and although preferred embodiments of the device are as illustrated and described, it is tobe understood that further modifications and changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall Within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
1. A tobacco leaf hanger of the character described comprising an elongated horizontal me- Figure 3 is a cross sectional view, taken subr ,Y stantially `on thefline 3-3 of Figure 1. l Figure `4 isa vcross sectional view, taken su stantially on the line "4-4 of Figure 1.
`ligure 5 is a view infront elevation of an end portion ofanother form of the invention.
Figure 6 is a `plan' view thereof.
- Referring now to thedrawings in detail, it will be seen that reference numeral l` designates a rod of suitable metal,` which rod` may be of any desired length. The rod'l is secured longitu- `dinally on a tobacco stick 2through the medium` of staples-3. l d e d Mounted longitudinally at spaced points on the `rod l is a seresof angular resilient clips 4. The `clips 4 terminate in upturned free endportions 5.
i Also fixed, as by welding or soldering, at `spaced The resilient clips 4` ccactwithfthe rodl for e rmly gripping and retaining the stems 1 of the bottom tobacco leaves 8. Thus, these valuable leaves are suspended forcuring in a manner to prevent them Vfrom sustaining injury. The uptallic member, and a series of spaced, angular resilient clips on top of said member and extending substantially parallel therewith, said clips4 being operable across the member and cooperable therewith for receiving and frictionally gripping the stems of tobacco leaves, said clips including angularly extending free end portions.
2. A tobacco leaf hanger comprising a horizontal stick, a rod mounted longitudinally on said stick, and a series of spaced, angular resilient clips mounted longitudinally on said rod and cooperable therewith for gripping and frictionally` retaining the stems of tobacco leaves, said clips including vertical free end portions extending in opposed relation to the stick.
3. A tobacco leaf hanger comprising a rod for mounting on a stick, crossheads mounted on said rod and engageable with the stick for preventing rotation of said rod thereon, and a 'plurality of resilient clips mounted on the rod. n
4. A tobacco leaf hanger of the character describedcomprising ametallic rod of circular cross-section, means for securing said rod on a stick, a plurality of crossheads rmounted at i spaced points on the rod and engageable with the turned free end portions 5=facilitate springing `the resilientyclips 4` outwardlyfor the insertion ofthe leaf stems l. In the `drawing aV leaf hanger; in accordance with the present invention` i is shown on both sides of the stick 2.
Of course,`
if 'desired,xa singledevice may be used on Vonly Vone side ofthe stick. l
stick for preventing rotation of said rod thereon,
