3 Claims.

This invention relates to a boot hanger and has for an object to provide a device of this character adapted to support a pair of boots in inverted position so that the boots will drain if water has gained access thereto, and so that the tops of the boots will be maintained free of wrinkles that tend to crack the material.

A further object is to provide apparatus of this character which will be formed of a few strong, simple and durable parts, which will be inexpensive to manufacture, and which will not easily get out of order.

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, it being understood that various modifications may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification:

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a boot hanger constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 2 is a side elevation of the boot hanger in applied position to support inverted boots.

Figure 3 is a perspective view of the boot hang- Referring now to the drawing in which like characters of reference designate similar parts in the various views, the boot hanger is preferably formed from a single length of suitable wire bent to form a hook It and boot engaging resilient clamps H. The clamps are of inverted U form in front elevation and are located at opposite sides of, and extend laterally from the shank l2 of the hook. The inner ends of the clamps are connected to the lower end of the shank of the hook, and the bill l3 of the hook is locked above the clamps. Th inner and outer ends [4 and I5 respectively of the clamps are of loop formation to adapt them to firmly grip the boots.

In applying the boot hanger to'a pair of boots the boots are inverted and slipped into the open lower ends of the clamps so that the inner and outer end of each clamp engages the instep portion 16 of a respective boot l1 below the shank !8 of the sole of the boot. Due to the resiliency of the clamps the boots will be firmly held against dislodgement when the hook I0 is engaged over a nail, rod, or other suitable support. In inverted position th boots will drain if water has entered the boots and since no portion of the clamps touch the tops of the boots the tops of the boots will be maintained free of wrinkles that may crack the material.

From the above descriptionit is thought that the construction and operation of the invention will be fully understood without further explanation.

What'is claimed is:

1. A boot hanger comprising a hook and boot engaging spring clamps, the clamps being of inverted U form in'front elevation and disposed at opposite sides of and extending laterally beyond th shank of the hook, the inner ends of the clamps beingconnected to the lower end of the shank of the hook, and the bill of the hook being located above the clamp, the inner and outer ends of th clamps being adapted to firmly grip the shank portions below the sole of inverted boots.
