SIDE-BAR VEHICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 227,499, dated May 11, 1880.
Application filed March 2D, 1880. (Model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JAMES E. DE GRUSH and JOHN WROATH, of Sandy Hill, in the county of Washington and State of New York,
have invented certain new and useful Improvernents in Side-Bar Vehicles; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and

whichV form part of this speciication.
The nature of our invention yrelates to the construction and arrangement ot' a buckboardwagon, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains to 'make and use the same, we will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the zo annexed drawings, in which- Figure l is aperspective view of our' device, and Fig. 2 is a cross-section.
A represents the front axle, with head-block B, and C is the rear axle. The head-block z5 B and rear axle, C, are connected by the two bars or boards D D, which form what is known as the buckboard7 E is the seat-frame above the boards D, said frame being supported upon posts or 3o blocks da, extending upward from the side bars, F F. These side bars are connected by and supported upon sills G G, which pass under and are secured to the boards D D. A

This device may be used with a wagon-bodyl on the buckboard, and it will spring as easy as it there were only a seat fastened to it.

Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isv In combination with the buckboard D D and frame E, the cross-bars I I and the connecting and regulating screw J, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
