HEAD FOR DECOY DUCKS Filed Feb. 21, 1941 Patented Feb. 24, 1942 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,274,246 HEAD FOR nEooY DUCKS 'Fred' P. Riddell, .Milwaukee, Wis.
Application February 21, 1941, Serial No. 380,053
2 Claims.
This invention relates to decoy ducks and more particularly to the heads thereof.
One of the objects of this invention resides in the provision of a head for decoy ducks adapted to be removed from the body portions thereof.
Another object of this invention resides in the provision of an unbreakable head for decoy ducks.
A further object of this invention resides in the provision of a rubber head for decoy ducks adapted to be disposed on a standardizedsupporting plug.
A still further object of this invention resides in the particular construction of the elements forming the head.
With these and other objects in view this invention resides in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of elements to be hereinafter more particularly set forth in the specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims through the head showing the plug in full lines.
Fig. 3 is a bottom view thereof.
'Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of the plug.
In the present embodiment of this invention the numeral 5 designates the body portion of a decoy duck having socket or hole 6 therein adapted to receive a stem 1 formed on a plug 8 removably disposed in the neck portion 9 of a hollow rubber head Ill provided with a base H having an aperture I2 therein for reception of the plug. The head while preferably being made of hollow rubber may be formed of any suitable material. The stem of the plug may be of any suitable type adapted to secure the head on the body of the decoy.
With this invention fully set forth it is manifest that a head for decoy ducks is provided for replacement of broken heads of the conventional decoy duck and, through the particular construction of the heads, they can be readily assembled on standardized plugs so as to dispose them on the bodies of decoys at various angles.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. A decoy duck comprising a body portion having a socket in its front upper part, a hollow rubber head, a substantially conical plug having a flat apex and a periphery lying on inwardly directed arcuate lines extending from its base to its apex, the plug being removably secured in the head, and a cylindrical stem formed on the plug, said stem being seated in the socket of the body portion.
2. An article of manufacture in the form of a support for the heads of decoy ducks formed from a substantially conical piece of material having a cylindrical stem formed on its base, said conical piece of material being flat at its apex and having its periphery lying on inwardly directed arcuate lines extending from its base to its apex. i
