This application is a continuation in part of my U. S. Patent No. 2,189,161, issued February 6, 1940, for Sound reproducing apparatus. This invention is also a modification of the apparatus described in my said Patent 2,189,161, carrying forward the basic idea therein disclosed.
An object of the invention is to provide improved sound reproducing apparatus adapted for bringing out a wider range of audio frequencies wherein the overtone frequencies are more effective in producing improved articulation, improved intelligibility and improved tone sensations upon the ear of a listener.
An object of the invention in particular is to provide sound reproducing apparatus as described in the preceding paragraph, whereby persons who are hard of hearing or who are partially deaf and in some cases whereby persons who are deaf have their sense of hearing improved, by the use of the apparatus comprising this invention.
Another object of this invention is to provide apparatus as described above particularly adapted for use by persons having a defective sense of hearing and by persons partially deaf.
Another object of the invention is to provide apparatus comprising sound reproducing apparatus and an electrical and electro-magnetic circuit network adapted for accomplishing and carrying out the objects mentioned in the preceding paragraphs.
Other objects and features of my invention more or less apparent and too numerous to relate in detail, will appear from the description of my invention in the following specification and accompanying drawing, taken together or separately.
For the sake of explaining the principles of my invention, I will now describe illustrative embodiments thereof. The drawing is for illustrative purposes only and is not drawn to scale.
The details of mechanical construction being left to the skill of the experienced workman employing the method and apparatus herein described and claimed.

I realize that other modifications of this invention are possible, therefore I say my invention is not limited by the detailed constructions shown and described, and it is my intention to cover all other modifications which can be made without departure from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the claims.
I claim:
1. Apparatus constituting an electrical and electro-magnetic coupling and compensating network, comprising the combination of a choke coil winding divided by tapping the winding, a lead connected to the winding at the intermediate tapping point, a second lead connected to one end of the coil winding, the leads providing means for connecting the coil Winding in the circuit network, the opposite end of the coil winding being free of leads for connecting to the associated circuit network, a fixed resistance and a fixed condenser in parallel forming an impedance having one end thereof connected to the free end of the coil winding, the opposite end of the impedance connected to the coil winding and also to one of said leads at either the intermediate tapping point or at the opposite end of the coil winding, and a second choke coil winding connected in series with a lead of the said coupling and compensating network in cooperation with the above described inductance and impedance combination, comprising a choke coil forming an inductance having a plurality of windings, tapping points at the ends of the inductance coil and an intermediate tapping point at the junction of two of said windings, a suitable impedance, comprising a fixed resistance and a fixed condenser in parallel, one end of the said impedance connected to the intermediate tapping point of the choke coil, the two end tapping points connected in series with a lead of the said coupling circuit network, the opposite end of the said impedance connected to a suitable portion of the coupling circuit network in direct connection with one of the said end tapping points of the said inductance connected to the coupling circuit, the impedance being in shunt with a portion of the second said choke coil and in series with the unshunted portion thereof in the coupling network, the intermediate tapping point being free of other circuit connections.

An electrical and electro-magnetic coupling and compensating network in apparatus in the class described comprising, an inductance having a plurality of windings, tapping points at ends of the inductance coil and an intermediate tapping point at the junction of two of said coil windings, a fixed resistance shunting one portion of the divided winding forming a suitable impedance, one end of the said impedance connected to the intermediate tapping points, the two end tapping points of the divided winding having leads for connecting to suitable portions of the said network, the opposite end of the said impedance connected to one of the end tapping points of the divided winding, the impedance shunting a portion of the divided winding and being in series with the unshunted portion thereof, the intermediate tapping point being free of other circuit connections.

An electrical, electro-magnetic and capacitive coupling and compensating network in apparatus in the class described comprising, an inductance having a plurality of windings, tapping points at'endsof the inductance coil and an intermediate tapping point at the junction of two of said windings, a condenser shunting a portion of the divided winding forming a suitable impedance, one end of the said impedance connected to-the intermediate tapping point, the
end tapping points of the divided winding having leads for connecting to suitable portions of the said network, the opposite end of the impedance connected to one of the end tapping points of the divided winding, the impedance shunting a portion of the divided winding and being in series with the'unshunted portion thereof, the intermediate tapping point being free of other circuit connections.

An electro-magnetic and capacitive coupling and compensating network in apparatus of the class described comprising an inductance having a plurality of windings, tapping points at the ends of the inductance and an intermediate tapping point at the junction of two of the said windings, a fixed resistance and a condenser in parallel forming a suitable impedance, one end of the impedance connected to the intermediate tapping point of the divided winding, the opposite end of the impedance connected to one of the said end tapping points of the divided winding, the impedance shunting a portion of the divided winding and being in series with the unshunted portion thereof, the intermediate tapping point being free of other circuit connections.

The combination of an electro-acoustical device in the class described and a coupling and compensating network connected in operative relationship with the electro-acoustic device comprising two inductance and impedance network combinations in the class, described, one of the said inductance and impedance combinations forming an inductance having a winding divided by tapping the winding, tapping points at ends of the inductance and an intermediate tapping point at the tapped connection, a fixed resistance and a condenser in parallel forming, a suitable impedance, one end of the impedance connected to the intermediate tapping point, the opposite end of the impedance connected to one of the end tapping points of the said divided winding, the impedance being in shunt with a portion of the said divided Winding and in series with the unshunted portion thereof in the coupling network, the intermediate tapping point being free of other circuit connections, circuit leads of the said inductance and impedance network combination connected to the circuit leads of the electroacoustic device.

In an electro-acoustical network system, an electrical and electro-magnetic coupling and compensating network comprising a choke coil forming an inductance divided by tapping the winding, tapping points at the ends of the inductance and an intermediate tapping point at the tapped connection, a fixed resistance and .a fixed condenser in parallel forming an impedance, one end of the impedance connected to the intermediate tapping point, the opposite end of the impedance connected to one of the end tapping points of the inductance, the end tapping points connected in series with a lead of the coupling network, the impedance shunting a portion of the choke c011 and being in series withthe. unshunted portion thereof, the intermediate. tapping point being free of other circuit connections. v i

An: electrical and electro-magnetic coupling and compensating network combination connected in a circuit in apparatus in the class described comprising an air core transformer having a pri'- mary. winding and a secondary winding, the secondary winding, formingan inductance divided by tapping the winding; tapping; points at the outer ends of the secondary inductance and an intermediate tapping point at the tapped connection, a suitable,impedance,ycomprising a fixed resistance and-a condenser parallel, one end of sthe impedance connected to the intermediate tapping point of the secondary winding, theother end of the impedance connected; to one of the end tapping points of the secondary winding, the impedance shunting a portion of, thesecondary winding and being'in series ,withthe unshunted portion thereof, the intermediate tapping point being free of other circuit connections.
