Description

' Nw. M, i941. l l.. E. HOPPE SHOE SUPPORT Filed Nov. 1e, 1939 Inventar' v L Elz'l-l c: p p E.' @E Z `Patented Nov. 11, l1941 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE sHoEvsUPPoaT Lester E. Hoppe,`Milwa.ukee, Wis. Application'November 16, 1939, Serial No. 304,765
` 1 Claim. `(Cl. 1,2 128) Thil invention appertains to supports or holdmeans forproperly supporting a plurality of pairs of shoes in a stretched condition above the floor. One of the primary objects of my invention is to provide a supporting bar for connection with the inner face of a `clothes closet door or the like, having secured thereto trees for receiving a plurality of pairs of shoes, whereby the shoes can be kept in an orderly and neat manneroff the closet floor and above settling dust and the like.
Another salient object of my invention is to provide a unitary device forsupporting a plurality of pairs of shoes, which will be of an exceptionally simple and durable character, and Which canbe manufactured and placed upon the market at a reasonable cost.`
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction,v arrangement, and formation of parts,'=as will be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed,
` and illustrated in the accompanying drawngfin which drawing;` i
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of my im- 'proved device, showing thesame attached `to the inner face of a clothescloset door or similar support. i
Figure 2 is a detail, vertical, sectional View taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1, looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 3 is a horizontal, sectional AView taken on the line 3 3 of Figure 1, looking inthe direction of the arrows,V 2
`Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein similar reference` characters designate corresponding parts throughoutthe several views, the
, letter S generally indicates my novel support for a plurality of pairs of shoes." r
The improved device S includes a horizontally disposed, ilat bar 5, which can be formedfrom strap iron. The bar, at appropriate pointscan l be provided `Vwith openings for `the reception of fastening elements 6, whereby the bar `can be rmlysecured in place on the inner surface of a closet door or other appropriate point. Rigidly secured to -the bar 5 at equidistantly spaced `ers for shoes, and more particularly `tonovel points are shoe trees 1.
cured to the opposite ends thereof a toe plate 9 and a heel knob I0. The springs 8 can be se-V cured intermediate their ends tothe bar 5 by means of rivetsl l, if so desired.
In placing the shoes 0n the shoe trees 1, the toe-pad `or plate 9 can be inserted in the after which the spring can be flexed so as to insert the heel knob l0 in the shoe. Thiswill maintain the shoes in a properly stretched vcondition and will effectively support the shoes above the oor. Thus, the shoes can be kept in a neat and orderly` condition above settling dust, and the floor of the closet can be kept clear. t
`Particular attention is directedV to the fact that the shoes are held spaced from the `Wall or closet door D. Hence, air canpass around the shoes and the shoes can bekept in a sanitary condition.
` Obviously, the bar 5 and the shoe trees 1 can be treated in anypreferred manner, so as to enhance the appearance thereof to the eye.
From the foregoing description it can be seen that'I have provided an exceptionally simple and novel means for supporting a plurality of pairs of shoes in a vertical Changes in details parting from the spirit or the scope of my invention, butwhat I claim as new is:
As a new article of manufacture, a unitary device for position above the licor.
openings therein, and a spaced shoe trees `extending transversely across the bar, each of said shoe trees including a nor- ,mally atleaf spring, a toe plate at the upper termediate its ends `to the bar said leaf springs extending transversely across the bar and lying in the same vertical plane.
, i i LESTER E. HOPPE.
These treesr can be of any desired character, but the same preferably i consist of flat leaf springs 8, having rigidly seshoe,
may be made Without de- `supporting a plurality of pairs ofv shoesinan elevated position comprising, a supporting bar having fastening element receiving plurality of equidistantly`
