This invention pertains to display holders, and particularly to means for attachingithe display holders to different types of napkin containers.

It is an object of my invention to providesecuring means on the display holder which will en-:

gage one or more types of napkin containers.

Another object is to provide means for securingtheholder to the napkin container in a location which still permits access to the napkins yet enables the display to remain in full view of" the customer.

A further object is to utilize the minimum amount of space and not interfere with the refilling of the napkin container.

Still another object is to insure positive engagement of the holder with the napkin container so that there will be no possibility of dislodgement.

Various other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description of the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this disclosure and which illustrate a preferred form of embodiment of the invention.

In the drawings, the reference numerals l and H represent pivotally opened napkin containers of the high-boy and low-boy types having two sides l2 and Id. The entire construction of the containers is not shown here as only so much is shown as is necessary to explain my invention. The two napkin containers shown here are disclosed in Patents Numbers 1,728,694 and 2,027,670.

Secured to the back 22 of. my holder 20 is a plate 24 comprising a lower main portion 26, the ends of which are bent overand spaced therefrom i to form a large fiange 28 and a smaller unbroken flange 46. Cut-out portions 36 and 32 are formed on flange 28 and adj acent surfaces on this flange Suiends 48, and 52, the purposes of which will be explained later.

Referring to the high-boy Ill, as shown in Figures 1 to 3, a lug 54 turned up from a plate 56, secured to side l2, extends inwardly of the container. Normally, this lug engages a slot 58 in the side I 4 and still functions in the same manner after the holder is attached.- The holder is slipped, aided by the upturned ends 48, 50 and 52, into a position so that the edge of the side I2 is between the lower main portion 26 and the flange 23. The lug 54 is forced or guided into the cutout portion 30, thereby preventing vertical movement of the holder 2!! and additionally securing the holder in position. With the holder in this position, the container may be closed despite the additional functioning of the members 54 and 56. It is to be noticed that the flange 46 aids in the positive connection by springingly bearing against the outside of the flange of the side l2 of the container.

The holder 20 is secured to the low-boy type of container I l in a manner similar to the first type just explained excepting that a different type of lug is used. In this form, a plate 62 is secured to the side l2 and has a flat reduced lug 64 that is adapted to be secured in the cut-out portion 32. The plate 62 is positioned differently than the plate 56 shown in the other form. Due to the positioning of the cut-out portions 30 and 32 on the plate 24, the holder may be engaged by either of the lugs 54 and 62, depending upon which type of container is used. It is obvious that the holder in each case is engaged in three ways, by the lug and slot connection, the edge between the base and top of the plate 24, and by the flange 46 engaging the flange 66 of the container.

While I have shown and described two embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that various changes and modifications might be made in this without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.

In combination with a pivoted napkin container having overlapping edge portions and a lug on the inner side of the outer portion, a display holder, a plate secured to the rear of said holder, said plate bent over to form a spaced flange adapted to clampingly engage said outer edge portion of the container, cut-out portions in said spaced flange, one of which is adapted to engage said lug, said flange being positioned between the two edge portions of said container which, when closed, prevents the removal of said holder from said container.

In combination with a pivoted napkin container having overlapping edge portions and a lug on the inner side of the outer portion, a display holder, a plate secured to the rear of said holder, said plate bent over to form a spaced flange adapted to clampingly engage said outer edge portion of the container, cut-out portions in said spaced flange, one of which is adapted to engage said lug, said flange and lug being positioned between the two edge portions of said container and adapted to prevent vertical movement of said display holder with respect to said container.

A display holder for an attachment to a pivoted napkin container having overlapping edge portions, the outer of which is provided on its inner face with a fastening lug, said holder comprising a body member, a plate secured to the rear of said body member, said plate bent over to form a spaced flange adapted to clampingly engage said outer edge of the container, cut-out portions in said flange, one of which is adapted to engage said lug, said flange adapted to be positioned between the two edge portions of said container.

A display holder for an attachment to a pivoted napkin container having overlapping edge portions, the outer of which is provided on its inner face with a fastening lug, said holder comprising a body member, a plate secured to the rear of said body member, said plate bent over to form a spaced flange adapted to clampingly engage said outer edge of the container, cut-out portions in said flange, one of which is adapted to engage said lug, said flange adapted to be positioned between the two edge portions of said container and adapted to prevent vertical movement of said holder with respect to said container.
