BYv
plemental fastening means mounted on the loom frame such as bolt I4.
The bolt I4 may be adjusted within the slots I3 longitudinally of the members IB, IB and secured in adjusted position by means of nuts I5. This adjustment provides selective increase or decrease of the size of the angle included between the legs of the strap 2D and thereby provides selective adjustment of the ratio of movement of the harness frame to the distance moved by the actuator.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that the shedding device as described will give more than a single lift on the harness and insure a large shed and that the amount of lift is adjustable by changing the location of the member 6 on the jack and by adjusting the bolt I4 in slots I3.
Having disclosed the preferred embodiment of my invention, I claim:
1. In a shedding. device for a loom, the combination of a harness frame, an idle sheave, harness strap means attached at one end to said harness frame and extending therefrom around said idle sheave, the other end of said strap means being adjustably connected to a stationary part vof the loom, and a' harness actuator including a sheave adjustably attached thereto, said sheaveengaging said strap means intermediate the ends thereof, the said adjustable connection being adapted to permit the angular relationship of the strap portions extending from said sheave to be selectively varied.
2. In a shedding device for a loom, the combination of a harness frame, a pair of idle sheaves, a pair of harness straps, each of said straps being connected at one end to said harness frame and extending therefrom around one of said idle sheaves, a third strap having one end adjustably connected to a stationary part of the loom and the other end connected to the extended ends of said pair of straps, and a harness frame actuator including a sheave adjustably attached thereto, said adjustable sheave engaging said third strap intermediate its ends, said adjustable connection being adapted to permit the angular relationship of the portions of the said third strap extending from said adjustable sheave to be selectively varied.
3. In a harness motion for looms, the combination with a loom frame, of a harness frame, a pair of idle sheaves journalled on said loom frame, a pair of flexible straps, each of said straps being connected to said harness frame at one end and extending therefrom around one of said idle sheaves, a third strap connected at one end to the extended ends of said pair of straps and having at its other end a hook, a bolt adjustably attached to said loom frame, said hook being detachably hooked on said bolt, a dobby jack provided with a series of notches, a member having a sheave journalled in one end and having a loop at the other end for engaging in one of said notches whereby said sheave is adjustably carried by said jack, said adjustable sheave engaging said third strap intermediate the ends thereof, whereby said jack actua-tes said harness frame with an adjustable lift.
r 4. In a harness motion for looms, the combination with a loom frame of a harness frame, strap means attached at one end to said harness frame and adjustably connected to the loom frame at the other end, means carried by said loom frame over which said strap means move, and a harness frame actuator engaging said strap means intermediate the end thereof adjustably connected to said loom frame and the point of engagement of said strap means with said second named means, the said adjustable connection being adapted to permit the angular relationship of the Iportions of the strap extending from the harness frame actuator to be selectively varied.
5. In a harness motion for looms, the combination with a loom frame having a slot therein, of a harness frame, a pair of idle rollers journalled on said loom frame, a pair of flexible straps, each of said straps being connected at one end to said harness frame and extending therefrom around one of said idle rollers, a dobby jack having a sheave adjustably connected thereto, a bolt adjustably secured in said slot, a third strap having a hook at one end for detachably engaging said bolt, said third strap extending over said sheave and being attached at its other end to the extended ends of said pair of straps, whereby the ratio of movement of the harness to the distance moved by the jack is greater than one to one and is adjustable.
Y 6. In a shedding device for a loom including a frame, the combination of a harness frame, a pair of idle sheaves, a pair of harness straps, each of said straps being connected at one end to said harness frame and extending therefrom around one of said idle sheaves, a harness frame actuator including a sheave adjustably attached thereto, Va third strap passing around said last named sheave and having the end of one leg connected to the extended ends of said pair of straps and the end of the other leg detachably connected to an adjustable member mounted on the loom frame for adjusting the size of the angle included between said legs and means for securing said adjustable member in 4adjusted position, whereby the ratio of movement of the harness frame to the distance moved by the actuator is greater than one to one and is adjustable. '7. In a shedding device for a loom including a frame, the combination of a harness frame, a pair of idle sheaves, a pair of harness straps, each of said straps being connected at one end to said harness frame and extending therefrom around one of said idle sheaves, a harness frame actuator including a sheave adjustably attached thereto, a third strap extending around said last named sheave and having the end of one leg connected to the extended ends of said pair of straps, fastening means carried by the end of the other leg, complemental fastening means mounted on said loom frame to which said rst named fastening means are adapted to be secured, said complemental fastening means being so constructed yand arranged as to provide selective increase or decrease of the size of the angle included between said legs, whereby the ratio of movement of the harness frame to the distance moved by the actuator is greater than one to one and is adjustable. 8. A device for selectively Varying the amount of movement transmitted from a dobby jack to a harness frame comprising a dobby jack, a sheave adjustably connected thereto, a strap passing around said sheave and having one end secured to a harness strap and the other end secured to means adjustably attached to a loom frame and adapted to permit the angle included between Athe portions of the strap extending from the sheave to be selectively varied.
