Cooperating with the boiler I and casing 2 is the improved lslide mechanism, generally indicated at 3, and on the front end of which the burner is carried, the slide being freely movable between the positions shown in Figures l and 2. Herein this mechanism includes a slide member 38 in the form of a casting, and slidable along and over the portions 29 from the withdrawn position shown in Figure 1 to the operative position shown in Figure 2, This member 30 herein is also provided with depending vertical flanges 3| in its inner end slidable along the ribs of the portions 29 from the position shown in Figure 1, while the flanges are receivable through suitable slots 29a provided in the flanges 25 and 26 on the member I3 and shown in Figure 4, to the position shown in Figure 2. Herein, depending transverse longitudinally spaced anges 32, 33 are also provided intermediate the ends of the slide 30, of which the flange 32 is the longer and adapted to engage the outer face of flange 25. Further, the flange 33 passes over the top of this flange 25 on the member i3 'and engages flange 26 thereon. In front of these flanges, longitudinally extending flanges 34 are also provided, these flanges 34 corresponding to the flanges 3l and likewise being supported and Depending feet 35 are also preferably provided on the outer ends of these flanges 34 to'provide supports for the slide 38 in the withdrawn position thereof illustrated in Figures l and 3 when the inner end thereof is supported on the outer end of the member i3. Preferably vertical slots 35 are also provided in the outer end of the member I3 and in alignment with the slots 28a. Also, the slots 36 are of such depth as to receive the feet 35 and enable them to be disposed flush with the front oi the member I3 when the slide is pushed in. While these feet 35 are herein formed integral with the cast slide 38, the same may be separately formed and attached thereto, and it will also be evident that, if desired, suitable rollers may be provided thereon to facilitate the movement of these feet over the floor as the slide is pulled out.
Referring more particularly to the burner mechanism carried on the slide 30, it will be observed that the burner mechanism proper, generally indicated at 31, is carried on the inner end of the slide above the front flanges 3|, while the fuel supplying mechanism and the controllingr`l` mechanism for the burner, generally indicated at 38, and the air supplying mechanism including the motor 39 and blower 40, are carried on the outer end portion of the slide. Herein, the burner 31 is also mounted on the front end of a longitudinally extending conduit 4I leading inward from the blower 40 and passing through a suitable aperture 42 above the ilanges 32 and 33. Further, these flanges herein form depending parts of longitudinally spaced lower plates 43, 44, forming closures for the lower portion of the openings 24, 24a. Also, herein, upper longitudinally spaced plates 45, 46, forming upward extensions of these plates 43 and 44 closing the remainder of these openings I24, 24a, are suitably connected to the plates 43, 44 as by bolts 41. Of these upper plates 45 and 46, it will also be observed that the plate 45 passes beyond the `lower end of the flange 21 on the upper casing member I2 and engages the flange 28 thereon, while the plate 46 is higher'and engages the outer surface of the flange 21, all in such manner as to close the openings 24, 24a in the combustion chamber 22 when the burner 31 is in operative position therein. Further, it will be observed that a closure plate 48, suitably fixed to the outer end of the slide, closes the 0pening.|5 in the casing 2, while a handle 49 is provided on the outside of this closure plate and near the bottom thereof and suitably connected to the end of the slide, in such manner as to enable the whole slide to be readily withdrawn. Moreover, it will be observed that a fuel pipe 58 is suitably separably connected as at 5I to the oil supply of the control mechanism, generally indicated at 38, by a suitable stationary connection, in such manner that fuel may be supplied as necessary from this control mechanism tothe burner 31 through usual stationary connections. A connector plug 52 connected to the motor and other electrical connections of the device, is provided on the outer surface of the closure plate 48 so that a line conductor may be suitably connected thereto by a suitable plug 53.
In the use of my improved construction, it will be observed that the'slide 30 and all the fuel and air supplying mechanism for the burner thereon forms a unit capable of being inserted bodily longitudinally in the casing I from the position shown in Figures 1, 3 and 4 to the posi-v tion lshovvn in Figure 2. Further, when the fuel and electrical connections are made to the closure plate 48, it will be evident that the burner mechanism is capable of operating in a normal manner in the combustion chamber 22.

At the same time, the plates 43, 44, 45, 46 serve effectually to prevent overheating of the supply and control connections for the burner mechanism, A

These and other advantages of my improved construction wi1l,however, be apparent to those skilled in the art.
While' I have -in this application specifically described one' embodiment which my invention may assume in practice, it will be understood that the same is shown. for purposes of illustration and that the invention may be modified and embodied in various other forms without departing from its spirit or the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim as new and desire to secureby Letters Patent is:
1. In combination, a generally horizontally disposed heater casing open at one end and having a partition between its ends defining a combustion chamber therein, and said casing providing a passage between said combustion chamber and said open end, oil burner mechanism in-l cluding a support insertable in said casing through said open -end and passage and also having a burner located in said combustion chamber when said support is so inserted and fuel supplying mechanism for said burner on said support in said passage between said burner and the open end of said casing, and a combustion chamber closure on said support between said burner and said supplying mechanism cooperating with said partition to isolate said combustion chamber from said passage.
2. In combination, a generally horizontally disposed heater casing open at one end and having a partition between its ends defining a combustion chamber therein, and said casing providing a passage between said combustion chamber and said open end, oil burner mechanism including a slide insertable in said open end and passage and having a burner located in said combustion chamber when said slide is so inserted and fuel supplying mechanism for said burner on said slide disposable in said passage means end of said casing, and heat insulating'means for said combustion chamber around the latter and including a combustion chamber closure on said K between said burner and the open' said burner on lsaid slide between ksaid burner vand the open endof said casing, and upstanding inner and outer closure means carried at spaced points on said slide and cooperating respectively with said partition and the open end of said casing to. form a closurefor said combustion chamber and for said casing when said slide is inserted therein.
4. In combination, a generally horizontally disposed heater casing open at the front having a top opening in the real'l end thereof adapted to communicate with a ilue, a partition between the ends df said casing defining a combustion chamber beneath said top opening and alsohaving a front opening, oil burner mechanism including a slide insertable in said casing through the open front thereof and having 'a burner thereon located in said combustion chamber when said slide is so inserted, and a combustion chamber closure carried by said slide between the ends thereof cooperating withI said partition when said slide is inserted in said casing to close the open .front of said combustion chamber.

In combination, a generally horizontally disposed' casing having an opening at one end thereof. a fiue, and a combustion chamber communicating with said flue comprising spaced inner and outer casing members, saidinner casingvmember being spaced from said outer member to form an outer insulating chamber surrounding the combustion chamber and having a side entrance leading into .the latter, an oil burner disposed in said combustion chamber, burner supporting slide means for enabling longitudinal insertion or withdrawal of said burner through said entrance, and a closure for said entrance movable with said burner and having spaced walls engaging the walls of saidl inner and outer casing members around said entrance to complete the doublewalled enclosure around said combustion tion chamber and having a boiler aperture in the top of said chamber, an angularly related boiler over said combustion "chamber having tubes opening into the latter, oil burner mechanism in casing through said slide between saidburner and said supplying Y mechanism cooperating with said partition to `isolate said combustion chamber from said passage.
3. ,In combination, a generally horizontally dis-` y nectible to a fuel supply said casing having a burner in said combustion chamber and fuel supplying mechanism for said burner in the opposite end of said casing, slidey mechanism carrying said burner 'mechanism and supplying mechanism and removable from saidA casing to remove said burner mechanism through said open end during cleaning of said boiler tubes,
and combustion chamber closure forming means carried on said slide mechanism between said burner and supplying mechanisms cooperating with said partition for closing said combustion A chamber when said slide mechanism is inserted in said casing.

Ain oil burner unit adapted to be horizontally inserted in and withdrawnfrom a casing comprising a horizontal slide, an oil burner on one end thereof, fuel supplying mechanism for said burner on the opposite end of said slide, an. upstanding combustion chamber closure on said slide between said burner and said supplying mechanism, an upstanding casing closure on said slide on the opposite end of the latter from'said burner, and supply connections on said second closure connected to said mechanism and conline.

In combination, a,k heater casing"having a combustion chamber in one end thereof., a boiler over said combustion chamber having passage maintaining air circulation around said chammeans opening into said casing around said comber and between said'burner and supplying mechbustion chamber, oil burner mechanism in said anism and up through said passage means in said casing having a burner in said combustion chamboiler.
