2 Claims.
My invention relates to hand stamps and more particularly to those types of hand stamps which are used continuously for many consecutive times and which therefore require a yielding action,
and has for its object to provide a new and highly efficient flexible connection between the handle and the stamp base.
A further object is to provide a flexible handle for rubber stamps which eliminates the need of m drastic change but, which may be utilized on all of the old stamps now in use as well as on all new stamps made.
A still further object is to provide a flexible connection between the wooden handle of a hand stamp and the mounting in which the stamp is secured, said flexible connection constituting a flexible rubber body having an air cushion thereunder employed to permit compression of the air and therefore cushioning 01 the shock when striking the stamp. Also the flexible rubber body will yield its natural degree with each strike of the stamp.
v A still further object is to provide a handle which yields sufliciently to absorb all shock and which being formed in a certain manner allows the printing face of the stamp to always strike the face on which the printing is to be produced in a manner that will produce a perfect reproduction each time it is used.
A still further object is to provide a yielding union between the handle and mounting of a rubber stamp which at the same time is accompanied by an air cushioning efiect to take all jar and error from stamp reproduction.
These and other objects I accomplish with the device illustrated inthe accompanying drawing in which similar numerals and letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views and as described in the specification forming a part of this application and pointed out in the appended claims.

section of a modified type of In the drawings in which I have shown the invention, the handle of the rubber stamp as A, the mounting as B, and the rubber impression as C. The rubber impression or die is made in the usual manner and attached in the groove 5 of the mounting strip B with the sponge rubber base 5 6 therebetween. On the top of the mounting B I secure my flexible connection F which is made of flexible rubber and is formed preferably in an oval shape with the top surface arcuate at I and with the bottom 8 flat but, provided with a central arcuate shaped air chamber 9 in the connection F within the flat surface 8. Small extensions or bosses ID are provided around the perimeter of the oval connection F by which the 15 entire device is secured to the mounting B.
Screws or tacks are passed through the bosses 10 into the top side of the mounting B. Centrally through the top of the arcuate outside of the connection, I mount a vertical screw I I, which 20 screw is passed through thte flexible connection and through a threaded washer l2 which is imbedded in the connection near the top side thereof. The top end of the bolt or screw is then passed into the handle A securing the entire as- 25 sembly together for use. It will be obvious that, other means than the bolt or screw ll may be employed to secure the handle to the connection F and this is considered a part of my invention and within the scope of my claims. 30
In the modified type of device shown in Figure 5 the entire handle is made of flexible rubber I5 with the exterior in the shape of a handle and with an air chamber [6 forming the entire inner area. The bottom flange I1 is secured to 35 the top of the mounting B to secure the handle to the mounting and the flange may be provided with bosses or the securing screws or tacks may be passed directly through the flange.
Figure 6 shows a still further modified type 40 of handle which is formed'with a spherical or globular hand grip 20, merging into a vertical flexible column 2| and then into an arcuate base 22 which base is provided with the arcuate air chamber 23 thereunder. This provides a cushion 5 for the hand and a cushion for the blow on the mounting when the stamp is in use.
Having thus described my invention, I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim:
1. A handle for hand stamps comprising, a 50 handle; a flexible connection secured to the bottom of said handle; a stamp mounting secured to said flexible connection with an air chamber between the mounting and connection and with the stamp mounting spaced from the stamp han 55 die with no rigid connection between the handle and stamp mounting.
2. A stamp of the class described comprising, a stamp secured on a stamp mounting; a. handle for said stamp comprising a semi-oval-shaped rubber connector having a. flat bottom on the outer perimeter of the under surface to be secured to the flat surface of the stamp mounting with an air space between the surface of the connector and the stamp mounting; a washer formed in an upwardly extended boss on the top of the connector; a screw passed through the entire connector and through the washer; with a handle into which the screw is secured holding the handle securely to the top of the connector.
