Description

I PRINTERS- COMPOSITION ROLLER d Feb. 26, 1940 O flaw in???1 1F55 Patented Feb. 11, 1941 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the casing removed u from the roller.
Figure 3 is across section of the complete roller taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
An ordinary printers roller consists of a roller core wrapped with twine or painted to hold the 20 composition in place.
My invention consists of a thin metal casing numeral I, with oblong perforations 2, which extend the whole length and breadth of casing i and which is held to the core 5, :by 'two screws numeral 3.
In casting the printing roller using this device, the casing 'l is slipped over the core 5, held in place by two screws numeral 3; it is then placed in the tube-like mould, centered, and the composition 4 is then poured into the mould, filling 5 the perforations 2 and clinching on the under side, between casing I and roller core 5.
The cast roller is now cooled and slipped from the waxed mould, the composition 4 is then slightly trimmed at each end of cast roller and 10 the completed roller is ready to put on the printing press.
I claim:
In a-printing roller, the combination of a cor a perforated casing surrounding and spaced from said core, means for fastening said casing to said core and a cylindrical surface layer of composition overlaying said casing and passing through the perforation thereof, whereby the same is clinched to said casing and thereby firmly a-t- 20 tached to said core.
