The invention relates to scalp cleaning and massaging devices 01 the .type in which the hair and scalp is agitated by a number of fingers or protrusions, and this invention has for its .main object to provide a device of .this kind which, while massaging the scalp, will also remove all dust, dandrufi and loose hair, alter a person has had his hair cut.

Another object is to provide a device which is sanitary, which is easy .to operate, which has no partseasily broken or apt to get out order,

and on which appliances of different kinds may be used. A still further object is to provide a device of simple construction, which can be manuiactured, sold and operated at a relatively low cost.

These and various other objects and advantages will be readily understood from the following description and from the accompanying drawing of preferred embodiments of the invention, in which, however, modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the appended claim. In the drawing:

Referring now to Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the device consists of a cup-shaped handle member II which is provided with an'air outlet II at its upper end and threaded at its lower end It. An applicator II is threaded on the lower end oi' the handle member and this applicator is provided with a plane end wall having a plurality of rows 01' teeth It. Between these rows of teeth elon-' gated slots II are formed which obviously are large enough for hair or dandrui! to pass through. An inverted, cone-shaped air duct ii is inserted in the handle member. The device may be attached, by means oia flexible tube l I, to any suitable suction device, as for example the suction device ll shown directly connected to the motor II in 1'18. 1.

In Figs. 4 and 5, a slightly modified applicator has been shown attached .to the handle member. This applicator is preferably made of relatively soft rubber and the end wall is provided with a 10 plurality of circumferentially arranged solid protrusions 2| having their ends convexly curved between which a plurality of orifices 22 which are obviously large enough to pass hair or dandrufl are termed. With this applicator not only may the scalp be cleaned, but a massage action is produced. This last-mentioned applicator may either be attached to the 25 handle member by means of a coarse thread, or may Just be held thereon by friction.

There is a substantially uniform distribution of the holes and of the protrusions over the outside of the entire applicator which gives a uniform effect in loosening and removing dandruff.

Having described the invention and its objects, what I claim as new and wish to protect by Letters Patent is:
